And in that 100 years they have been used less and less to the point where their is very little practical applications for them today.

Let's just go ahead and ban all sports in that case because there are just as many trash talkers in there than anywhere else. Why? There are many sports which no matter how competative promote sportsmanship. I get that people can get frustrated and snap a bit and say something they otherwise wouldn't. It is understandable and I am not going to be calling any sponsers over it unless it is way out of line like racism, sexism etc.. When you try your best and it just is not good enough we all can re…

Your advice is leave and don't try to make things better? We could work together to make gaming a more friendly and open environment to all, no just just leave because I would rather accept people actively making gaming a hostile place than trying to improve it. My mind is indeed blown.

Yes but you only know who to mute after someone does something. There is no need to defend people being assholes. First it's it's the same in every competative hobby. Then it's you should wear the insults with pride, then it's oh you can just mute them. Why is it never, they shouldn't be doing that.

No one is saying science and measuring things is bullshit, but you have to use the right methodology to get accurate results. But the methodolgy of IQ test is bullshit. What they are trying to measure bares no relation to the results they give. Trying to reduce intelligence down to one solitary number is bullshit and does not give any sort of accurrate representation of someones intelligence. I have no clue how to measure intelligence because it is such a broad termand influenced by so many fact…

If esports cannot handle people being treated fairly and with respect then it should die. It is not about not being able to handle it. Its why should anyone have to handle it? Not just woman why should anyone be subject to insults while trying to enjoy the couple hours free time they get. Handling it is irrelevant, no one should have to handle that bullshit.

I see this as the same as when people hurl insults at other things that they think I like or cherish. Angry that someone insulted something you casre about. A valid reaction, but different from you yourself being insulted. I'm afraid that this is where we're going to disagree again. It helps the recipient develop a thick skin and be able to take further challenges. In this regard, I see it as being helpful. So people being assholes to you are helping you? How about people making death threats ag…

My cause was to point out that both sides get insults. My example showcased my point. The mother comment was the insult against me and those that threw the insult thought that I would be impacted by it. Your mother is not you, she is not your property (I am not trying to say you think she is, that would be stupid), she is not an extension of your self. She is hopefully someone you love and care for. Someone saying they have sex or whatever with your mother is not an insult to you in any way shap…

And that is still a problem, a different type of problem to be sure but still a problem. It happens with certain games and no doubt preferrable to the abuse women get in other games to some. Women playing games get treated differently because they are women. It is a problem no matter which direction the treatment goes.

You learned things about your mother... funny you mentiuoned that, an example where you were not insulted. You mother was. You might get angry over your mother being insulted and no one would fault you for that but you were not insulted. Not really helping your cause. I do not think it is fair at all but arguing about it is pointless as there is no way to prove it one way or the other. All I know is I get insulted for not being very good at a game, I see women insulted for who they are. In my mi…

It's really not. There are tons or competative communities that are not shit. There are bad apples in every community sure but very few other communities activly defend people being assholes like you are. Not to even mention the number of people being assholes in gaming.

So basically your reasoning is "We need to start treating women as equals in video games, but still give them special treatment when it comes to addressing them." How about we not be assholes to anybody. That is what I want.

Because women playing games get those exact same insults men get. You don't know if it is a woman that you are insulting. And when people do find out they move to being insulted because they are female ontop of just generally being insulted. Oh and besides, please consider that the other extreme exists too: Women are often treated exaggerately nicely by many guys, getting favorable treatment in the game and so on. Which is extremely annoying I imagine when you just want to play a game.

I think it is a bit more complicated than "looking doesn't hurt anyone". But it sure does take a lot of writing to explain why. But in certain wider social contexts come into play on the wrong day I can see why it could be upsetting to someone. And peoples feelings are important. Well what did you say? They are saying you are a rad feminist who doesn't think MtF are women... Any reason they would say that? I guess that explains it, I live in South Africa all you have to do to get out of an arrest here is slip a cop some money unless it is really serious (and or there are lots of police around). Forget about mens rights for the moment... what the hell are these people doing? I don't live in America but these numbers seem crazy high. I have to struggle to think of someone who has been arrested before. With the concept of privilege you cannot look at a single statistic and say well clearly male privilege is BS. Even if you believe in what the article is saying that boys are not girls and that the left and feminists want boys to be girls, just tone down the retoric. It was in reponse to someone who said online feelings do not matter. I was trying to help the guy understand why people view the MRM in a negative light. It is a broad generalisation so it won't be true for everyone but a general opinion I have found here is that women should not be entitled to child support if the man does not want the child.

The issue is this is not a court of law, they do not need evidence of wrong doing to put a strike next to his name. One or two comments are not likely to get you fired in most offices. It is about looking better if future incidents occur. If he just denies sure it may be better now if things go his way but next time? You just look like you don't give a shit about your co workers. Also it makes the person you offended more likely to resent you provoking future problems.

If the company has an HR department they have a set of rules likely written up by a lawyer. It is basically a check list to ensure the company will not face liability issues if they are enforced. It is not a mad assumption as to what those are. Pretty much everything sexual in nature whether a joke or touching is most likely going to be banned. Rape accusations should NEVER, EVER be brought to any campus administration. They do not have the knowledge, the training or the impartiality to properly handle ANY of these claims, whether they are for "information gathering" as you would have us believe or not. Making false accusations of rape is wrong. You don't prove kidnapping is wrong by kidnapping some kid just to show how bad someones security is. Why do that with rape accusations? So you're ok with the expectation that they choose to bring a child to term who will live in poverty, and you feel that the responsibility for this choice (and the choice not to give it up for adoption) should fall squarely on the man who had no part in either decision? How does that make any sense? Nope man had nothing to do with having a child none. He was just walking down the street and now he is a father. Shit just happens. No part of that decision at all. And no the woman has an equal resp…

What part of his body is involved in that? He chose to have sex, that was his choice, sex leads to babies, after that no part of his body is involved in having that baby. Where is the violation?

Because people should not be forced or put under extreme pressure into abortions. It cannot be an expectation that women will just abort their children.

Nope, that would be illegal and would violate a womens right to her body.

When has it become ok to just expect someone to abort their child? I have seen this said in this subredit like 20 times in the past 24 hours. That is insane. I cannot think how anyone could be a worse person than just saying just have an abortion I don't want to pay for it not my responsibility.

You cannot just expect someone to abort their child. That is disgusting. Oh just kill your kid because the father does not want to be responsible for his own child, honestly I cannot think of a way it could be worse.

If a woman has an abortion there is no kid to suffer from a parent not wanting to pay for it, it no longer exists. The same does not hold true if the man walks away. If you want to argue against abortion being legal that is fine.

I often hear that she could do better or he must have money, all in all something negative toward the man. I guess there is some truth to that at least the money part. There is a lot of trying to explain why she is with him. It is never that he could just be a great guy. Also true that I don't hear the reverse happening trying to explain why a hot guy is with an obese woman unless it is she is desperate so will do anything, normally implying something kinky. In both cases it can be insulting to …

I guess neckbeard is a thing but I have never heard anyone actually using it other than to insult someone who uses reddit. Maybe I live ina different culture but I have never seen it in real life. I have only heard online feminists saying those things about the women but I hear men all the time fat shaming women calling them whales and such idiocy.

I understand the objections you guys make, fairness of the law, in letting both side have the same options works great when both side are the same going in. If that is the case it leads to the same results but that is not the case here. Equality in the law disproportionatly punishes one side in this case, it leads to worse results. I can smtomach making a father pay for his own child when he doesn't want it, thee father does have responsibility there he did create the child even if it is unfair …

Child support is based on income. There are cases where to much is taken but that is something we can improve. It doesn't mean we should throw out the entire system and just say men can just walk away with no responsibilities.

With 5 replies coming in every 10 minutes I have to write quickly to get to everyone. What I wrote is sound. At the time of conception the financial situation is one way, then the father leaves with no reprocussions completely changing the financial situation.

Where strength is relevant sure. But it is increasingly becoming irrelevant. If a woman is physically not strong enough to fly a plane and it will crash if she does obviously she cannot pilot that plane. Having strength requirements exist for certain jobs is already a thing. But we should naturally minimise the downsides of the biological differences but it is not always possible.

Life's a bitch. Grow up. I could say this about men having to pay child support but I am not, just because life can be cruel that does not mean we cannot try to improve it. No it does not. See also: Giving the kid up for adoption or dropping the kid off at a safe harbor approved fire station. "Maternity Leave" exists. You're a fucking troll. I am not religous but an abortion is an invasive medical prcedure in somee cases but beyond that, whether or not you think the fetus is a baby or not it can be heart breaking to lose your unborn child, some women never recover fully from it. It is not something I can support ever pressuring anyone into. My friend had an abortion 5 years ago she was a wreck for a long time (she is religious). The shitty situation deciding if you want to go solo as a parent or getting an abortion overrules a mans decision to either pay for the child he doesn't want until it reaches adulthood or run away and be subject to jail? When the man put himself into that situation himself. Sure why not. When giving the man the option of backing out leads to the situation I described above. So can the woman. Equality exists here. Unfortunately it is a crappy situation that cannot be fair. I just think putting that pressure on a woman to have an abortion when she does not want one is about the worst thing you can do. Not much better than strapping her to the table yourself and forcing it to happen. Now if the money could be made up from different places it is a different story but it comes with its own problems.

Yeah but that leaves a shitty situation. It pressures the women into having an abortion if she is not not financially stable enough to have the kid which is likely if she is not at least middle class with all the time off mothers have to take. Your course of action is anti poor. With how it is now the man at least can choose to use protection if he does not want a kid (not perfect). Your way a couple could choose to have a kid, then the guy backs out (no down sides) all but forcing an abortion o…

In theory you are right, that would be best but unfortunatly people are shitty and many people would rather just dump the baby leaving it to die rather than pay. That is why there are safe drops for unwanted children. I would rather pay my share in taxes that goes towards helping those children than have more babies dumped and left to die.

Many times one parent does not want custody. Other times one parent is simply not fit for it. The world is not as simple where applying a one size fits all solutions works out best.

Wow that is worded in a really obtuse way to make the issue seem worse than it is. There is an imbalance in power in abortions (and arguably in a few other places) but that is due to biology. Biology is clearly misandry.

Marriage was real 100 years ago when you could beat and rape your wife legally? (Depending where in the world you are, fairly certain it hold for America though) I really hope that is not what you are saying. 100 years ago the man had pretty much 100% control of the marriage. Whether or not there is an economic unfairness now it is still a vastly bnetter situation than what we 100 years ago.

When has it been marriage in your opinion then? I am just assuming it is as bad as you lot seem to think it is (I have never been married so I am not going to comment on itt). People not getting remarried is not great news assuming it is because of a perceived (real or not) unfairness. People getting married and being happy is a good thing, it is bad when people who would normally want this no longer feel it is wise. There is touching and touching. If you are invading that persons space you do need to back off. example You can clearly see his legs are way to wide and intruding on that woman's space. Everything is a matter of degree, I am not saying self sacrifice to the point where you are in extreme discomfort, if that is even possible with sitting with your legs closed, I have never had an issue with it. Just be considerate of those around you.

When space is tight close you legs it is not going to harm you unless you have some medical condition that I have never heard of. Yes it is less comfortable but when space is tight you are just making the space tighter making it more uncomfortable for everyone. We as a society have decided that children are more important than the squabbling of their parents. We put the child first. Not getting your child what it needs to survive is child abuse. You are responsible for that child. Just like if you and your ex were still together. If child support is slavery so is being married and having a child. Either way you have to pay for it.

Yet she's free to deny you any chance to see your own children. What would you call that? You don't see any imbalance here?
