I think the immediate and traumatic "trouble" would be the least harmful over the long-term. Yes, it absolutely, truly sucks in the immediate time frame, but as you said, long-term, low-grade exposure eats at who you are and can undermine you as a person.

I disagree with nothing you've said. The chain is only as strong as its weakest link, and the fact that the CoC seems hellbent on introducing weak links through lowering the standards for one half of the equation is foolish. Note: I'm not saying women in the military are weak links, just that expecting less of them is.

Never claimed I was out of shape, but I can claim that number and did them correctly. The fact is, the man failed to make the standard and as such, couldn't be a field agent. This is a failure on your leadership's side, not the military as a whole. While I'm unfamiliar with Navy procedures, if you're in the Air Force all you need to do if you fall out due to injury is to go to the hospital and get verifiable proof that something was wrong with you and you'll go on a profile. How silly of us to expect the people whom we put in power to be able to exercise the degree of self-control they'd need to go to the gym to pass the physical fitness standards they knew they'd have to pass. This wasn't a surprise for him. He knew the standards going in to the test and he failed to adequately prepare for it.

Life in jail was ridiculous, definitely, but I still think she should receive something. As I understood it, your argument is if the sentence is overly harsh the defendant should walk, which is patently ridiculous. But that might be the alcohol screwing with me. If I misunderstood you, I apologize.

It has always been my experience that the Marines get a bad wrap just because of how they're always seen as gung-ho. A lot of them are very intelligent individuals and nowhere near the muscleheads that they're portrayed as. As Air Force, my worst experiences are with the Army.
