Well, listen to your lawyer. I wish you luck, man.

Get the hell out however you can, and take your kids with you. TALK TO A LAWYER. Reddit can't help you. Your lawyer will know all the state laws relevant to finances/custody, etc. Talk to the lawyer and LISTEN to them. Follow their instructions TO THE LETTER. This is for you AND your kids. You got this, bro. Just do it.

If she's that unstable, how long do you think you can hold it/her all together? If you are this terrified of her reaction, how are the kids doing already? You know your wife and family better than we do, but how do the kids deal with her and your relationship with her as it is? Are they walking-future-anxiety-disorders due to their mother's reactions, or is it more low-key than that? I don't know, only you know.

Most adults have nowhere near the compassion and sense of responsibility that you do! Don't beat yourself up! And don't allow your compassion to be a weakness to be exploited. You are a good man. However, you are not responsible for her mental illness. She is an adult. Hopefully she'll find a way to figure it out, but you need to do what you need to do to have some kind of decent life. Your mother didn't birth you to be responsible for her, you have to put yourself first.

When the shit comes down, you might have to pay her off, but it doesn't look too bad relatively. But don't count on anything from her, even if it's awarded. It will not be enforced.

It can't hurt, it can only help. It may or it may not help, but it can in no way be a negative. If your daughter wants to live with you, and she moved out, perhaps you'll get the house, if you can afford to buy her out and all. It all comes down to financials, but it can't be a bad thing that she abandoned the home and got a new place to live.

You're last paragraph reminds me of arguments I've had with several people, including my own mother about the "pay gap". If a rich, cigar-smoking fat fuck in a suit could hire a woman to do the ACTUAL, SAME WORK as a man for 50-70% of the cost, nobody would hire a man to do anything again! They can only retort mentioning a "boy's club". All that tells me is they've never run a business. No rich, cigar-smoking fat fuck in a suit gives a damn about other men more than his own money lol. I know it'…

No, you're not wrong, man. This is her way of justifying everything. To be able to say "Look everyone! What I did truly made everybody happier and better people." Keep doing what you're doing. Don't show your kids that they need to "be there" of be "friendly" with their spouse's new lover when they're older.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
