There are other things people can do. If her name and face (and the issue in this post) are known around her home and work, shops can refuse her service and people can refuse her favours.

Wow. Thanks a lot! The issue there has a few twists about shared responsibility. The husband must understand his wife can't go through another pregnancy and doesn't want one either, and the wife should understand that his husband's body is his body, and she has no right to tell him to go the snip-snip-way if he doesn't feel comfortable with that. Pills and IUD were disastrous for her, so those are out of the question. So condoms could provide an answer. Might not be what the husband wants, but s…

That man isn't abandoning any baby, because he is not the father. In any case, the absent paternal figure is the one that the mother knows is the real father, and then... Voilá! No abandoned child. You can't be blamed of abandoning your son if it's not your son.
/r/MensRights22/06/17 03:32 AM

If at birth the supposed father learns he is indeed not the father, he can get out without affecting a relationship with the baby because no such relationship exists yet. The paternity test can (together with the mom's knowledge of her whereabouts nine months prior) identify the real father, with whom the baby can establish a beautiful relationship, especially because it is not founded on lies. Why should a man be a father to a baby who's not his son/daughter? I don't get it. It's not logical at…

Most times, if cake has penis, is male cake, and if cake has vagina, is female cake. Of course there are minorities that should be respected and taken into account, such as transgender cakes, and cakes that identify themselves as of the opposite sex or even as pies, lasagna, or haggis. We should treat them all with equal respect, be them white cis-gendered male cakes or a purple trans-gendered cake identifying itself as an enchilada pie.

Nah, I won't say that. What I only say is that justice should not be sexist. Either is OK for both men and women, or either it's a crime no matter if the person committing it is male or female. As far as I know, age of consent where this happened is 17, so the boy being 16 years old, this was not only statutory rape, but also committed by teachers, who hold an authority position over the lad. Had it been tho male teachers engaging in a threesome with a 16 year old female student, we wouldn't see…
/r/MensRights24/08/15 01:45 PM
3

I said "reverse the genders" as in the same issue, same circumstances (never mentioned violently forcing anyone). Do you doubt that of if the case was two male teachers having a threesome with a 16 y.o. girl, the media and the feminist organizations would start a hell of an issue asking for harsh punishments (prison terms)? Edit: mistyped (mobile). It's if, not of.
/r/MensRights23/08/15 10:17 PM
10

I think a big issue is the double standard. If you reverse the genders, all the media, all women, and most men would be asking for the offenders to be put in prison for rape (or statutory rape) in addition to be put in a sex offenders list for life. But now the offenders are women, so the media goes' meh', 99% of the women think that even accusing them is unfair (and misogynistic? ), and most men agree or aksi also go 'meh'. The double standard displayed is insulting to true equality.

Visibly lobbies for weaponised fake-rape accusations? I must have bad eye-sight, because that's not what I see. Well, perhaps they don't lobby for fake rape accusations, but most feminists (especially the most KNOWN AND media-intensive players) claim that fake rape accusations should not be met with any significant penalty because that would deter real rape victims from stating eventual valid accusations (which is a fallacy). Au contraire, that lack of punishment/penalties, in effect, encourages…

Was she drunk? No. She wasn't. And she was at work. This happened at her work, in plain daytime. Her mother was an alcoholic (she had died —shortly before— by the time this relative of mine was raped). She won't touch an alcoholic beverage unless her life depended on it. Your blunt attempt at sarcasm in your question doesn't touch me at all. It only helps me remember that there are awful people indeed, and that you are either: a) one of them. b) an indifferent bystander. And it helps me remember…

The funny thing is, is that the posters doesn't say that all men are rapists. I know. Did I claim different? The poster simply outlines the repercussions of "having sex" with someone who is too drunk, ie rape. So, the girl in the poster raped the boy? Would you say she raped him? Because, as far as the poster says, he was drunk. So far, you've only defended the poster's claim that he raped her and never mentioned that this was also the other way 'round too. but if you have sex with someone who i…

Did I say I am "more concerned about being falsely accused than about the harm that is done by a rape"? Did I ever say so? Oh, shite, it's impossible to have a serious conversation with you, when you clearly (it's not the first time) put words in the mouth of others and/or take eords completely out of context. If anything, the whole issue of not punishing false accusers only makes false accusations more widespread day by day. And by calling rapists only men in case of drunk sex, only helps in fa…

So because you have a relative that was raped you are automatically a rape expert? No, and I didn't claim so. I just told you, after your question ("Do you not understand what rape is?") that not only I do understand, but that I also got it close, because it happened to a relative of mine. Aw. I just don't know if you are innocently misreading or you are doing it on purpose (or it's just my odd English). First, there have already been such cases of girls regretting having sex with someone they later didn't fancy or that would put them in socially awkward situations, so they just cried rape, thus ruining the lad's life and demeaning the REAL cases of rape. I know that false accusations are a minority compared to real accusations, but I also know they are not as rare as to dismiss t…

I get it and I wholly agree. I am just sad I can't properly explain this to /u/flawlessqueen. Perhaps it's by my not being a native English speaker, I dunno. You state a very cogent point, and hit on a very strong contradiction if we consider this poster is made in a context of defending and/or supporting women. It's time we all start acknowledging women as strong, smart, capable, wonderful individuals (just as you say and as I also believe), and, just as men, take the responsibility of even mak…

Let's first start with the civilized debate in the terms you lay down: I honestly cannot handle stupidity on this level. Well, so you'd better not buy any mirror. Let's keep going on: If she didn't consent to having sex, she was raped. We know from the poster that BOTH gpt drunk and they "hooked up". Not being a native English speaker, I went to find out what "hook up" means. A "Define hook up" in google led me to know that in this context "hooking up" means that they had sex. So it doesn't say …

Good, and since there was no more information given but that "both are drunk", we could easily assume that "both are drunk". We don't know if one was more drunk than the other. The context is that both are drunk and she didn't consent. Do we know if he consented? Or is it just that the guy's consent is not needed just because he is male?
/r/MensRights13/07/15 06:09 PM
3

If both are drunk, how do you know the girl is not taking advantage of the lad?
/r/MensRights13/07/15 06:05 PM
2

The poster says that they are both drunk. It implies that because of that Josie could not consent. Why is it assumed that the guy being drunk his consent is not needed? If you need to make a point for this kind of scenarios, a better idea would be of two individuals with one f them being drunk to the point of being incapacitated to give consent. In that case, of course it's rape, I would never say otherwise, and I consider rape being an enormously serious issue deserving very harsh penalties. Bu…

In the light of girls being able to regret having had sex even days after the fact, and then ruin a guy's life just because it suited them to, not taking responsibility for just having had sex with someone they later didn't fancy, what was that about "being held responsible for anything" or being "held accountable for their own actions"? The scenario here was of two drunk individuals, female and male. It does NOT say who is more drunk than the other. If that was the point, it could have said tha…
/r/MensRights13/07/15 05:58 PM

Neither of them could consent, that much is established. Now how do we know who that rapist is? Guy, because something something penis, something something privilege.
/r/MensRights13/07/15 05:47 PM
2

Both were drunk. As far as we know, she does not consent, nor asked him for consent either. The issue here is that this assumes than in a case of both parties being drunk, it is on the guy to ask for consent and the girl to give it, else it's rape. No one ever says that the girl should ask for his consent too, especially when BOTH are drunk. This is a flagrant case of double standards.
/r/MensRights13/07/15 05:46 PM
3

If both parties are drunk and have sex, and neither explicitly consents (they just get carried on by the developing situation), is it still rape? Who rapes who? If the girl regrets it a few days later and calls it rape and claims so, is it rape? And what if the guy regrets it a few days later and calls it rape and claims so? Is then the girl a rapist?
/r/MensRights13/07/15 05:42 PM
4

But you are wrong, because you're using logic in this issue. Please remember that equality is not about equality. Someone might have tried to tell you it is, but it is not. Equality means that in case of drunk sex, where both male and female are drunk, the guy is a rapist and the girl is a victim. Because penis and privilege.
/r/MensRights13/07/15 05:38 PM

If they are white, both should go to prison because both are rapists and privileged.

Yes, it's up for debate. I'll show you how it is: Case 1: —Does the accused party have a penis? —Yes, he does. —It's statutory rape. Case 2: —Does the accused party have a penis? —No, she doesn't. She has a vagina. —It's not statutory rape. It's easy, you see?

I'm glad to see this prompt reaction against misogyny. Men's rights are already seen as a non-issue or, worse yet, unfairly discredited as an excuse for misogyny, so we have to be very careful and react accordingly when we spot misogynistic messages and conducts, and condemn them as we condemn misandrist ones. Well done, pals, and thank you.

Of course. When you have it ready, whenever that may be, it'll be a very valuable resource for all interested in equity/egalitarianism and reversing the dangerous misandrist tendency that is growing in many areas of our society and culture. It's very important to make people gain conscience of that and that it's not at all misogyny, but a quest for actual equal rights and treatment under the law, in courts, in education, etc. Thanks.

How about instead, we give all fathers the right to demand a paternity test? It's a tricky thing. It makes it difficult for men because it places on them the burden of asking for the testing, thus puting a point of stress into the relationship. Some ppl with room for holding suspicions would back away from the test. On the other hand, if it is a stantard procedure, well, it just happens and no one feels the PRESSURE of asking for a paternity test. You know, a cheating woman, knowing that the bab…

It's not really orwellian. You're not having a genetic id with a paternity test. You're just determining if certain person is certain baby's biological father. Then (it can be considered in the law), if it becomes a standard procedure, the biological samples used for the genetic test can be destroyed after the paternity test, so no samples remain to make further tests/ID, etc. In case the test goes negative the state can do it again unless the biological mother can point at someone as the biolog…
