I'm up front and let girls know that I may have sex with other girls. Often their response is "ew if you do that I won't see you anymore", to which I reply "Okay okay, how about if I do sleep with someone else, I will tell you first". And then next time I meet her, I tell her that I did have sex with someone else. I've never had a problem doing it this way so far and I get a lot of game. Just finished watching it all. tl;dw Drop hooks everywhere you go and see what sort of reactions people give you, in order to know whether you should proceed. A hook is 1-4 words of simple stuff you say to anyone around you. If they give you a happy response, go for it.

Yes, the language thing has a HUGE impact. Foreigners speaking non-shitty Korean are extremely rare even in Seoul. It's a 분리형 빌라, which means my bedroom and kitchen are separate. It's a "villa", not a studio. I've also got two "verandas" which open to the outside, although the verandas aren't as fancy as you are probably imagining. I'm 26, and most people my age or younger have really tiny one-room apartments with no closet and the only separate room being a tiny bathroom. What's misleading about it? If we have sex, we have sex. If we don't, we don't. It's not a big deal to me, but girls have a huge social stigma about going back to a guy's place. If I can convey to her that you really don't care whether I get laid, then it's a lot easier to have some natural "kino" progression that wouldn't have happened otherwise because she was worried how I would feel about her not wanting to have sex that night.

I'm a white guy from the US, but I speak Korean at a high level and have no problem having a conversation in Korean with a girl about whatever. I see young people talking quietly on their phones or with their friends quite often, so I don't think the same stigma exists in Korea. However, any specific Japan tips you want to send my way would likely be just as applicable in Korea. :)
