I remember we had the same thing at our primary school. That was about 8 or 9 years ago now, but all the girls in year 8 (the last year of primary school) were taught self defence, but none of the boys were.

I disagree that men need to stop being white knights, some women actually do need protecting, but the way that the guys forcibly removed OP from the bar and threatened him is not the way to do it.
