With a screen name that contains "Pegmaster" you have to be at least a little assholey.

Don't be so sure. I was a skinny, unathletic kid with thick glasses. My parents' marriage was in bad shape, I later learned that shortly after I was born, my mother told my father that after my sister and I were grown, she was going to leave him, so we lived with a constant undercurrent of hostility punctuated by an occasional outburst. My (older) sister was involved in a recreational activity that was almost all girls, and I got dragged to it at least twice a week, where I sat around and did no…

I'm a boomer. I have two daughters who are in their early 20s. From what I've heard from them and their friends things aren't all that different from when I was single.

It seems to me that this sub has accepted incel mythology as reality. What you read here is so far from most people's reality that it makes me wonder what kind of life the poster must live.

I was single for a long time. My issue wasn't that I couldn't decide how many women I should date before trying to make things permanent, it was finding women to date, period, and any year when I had more than one first date was a good one. When I met my wife, I knew she was the one by the end of our third date.

Can't say I can agree with you. The women I dated more than once were all interested in knowing the real me, and for the most part decided that I wasn't what she wanted. One finally decided that she did, and it's been 27 years now.

I see. Do you have a good source of the demographics of the viewership of Seinfeld? I'm a mid boomer and everyone I know who was my age watched it.

Jerry Seinfeld was born in 1954, boomers are defined as being born from 1946 to 1964. Larry David, who was the head writer for most of the show, was born in 1947.

That "take my wife, please" kind of humor is from the generation of the boomers' parents, such as Rodney Dangerfield and Henny Youngman, not from boomer era comedians such as Robin Williams or Jerry Seinfeld.

My best friend is 5' 7", is married with two children. Sorry to hear you haven't been able to find someone, being short does make things more difficult. Me, I'm average height but very skinny. I was a virgin until age 25 and didn't marry until my late 30s, so I understand what you're going through.

One factor is that nature provides approximately 105 boy babies for every 100 girls. Males have a higher mortality rate at all ages, so ultimately there is a surplus of elderly women, but at the ages that people are looking for a partner there is a surplus of men. That, plus women tending to date and marry slightly older men.

I think this Pew survey is more accurate: https://www.pewresearch.org/social-trends/2020/08/20/a-profile-of-single-americans/ . It shows 51% of men ages 18 to 29 as describing themselves as single, where 32% of women say the same. In the 30 to 49 age group the proportion shrinks to 27% of men and 19% of women.
/r/PurplePillDebate18/06/24 06:49 PM

Never been to a Twin Peaks. When I was single, we would occasionally go to Hooters because one of my friends likes their wings. It's just a restaurant where the waitresses are cute. I haven't been in years, the most recent time I went was for a goodbye lunch for a coworker who was leaving. My wife didn't care. Hitting on servers is not a nice thing to do at any restaurant. I suspect that Hooters is very practiced at dealing with that sort of thing, but I never saw anything unusual there.

In order to answer this, I'd need a consensus agreement as to what red pill is. I've read a good bit of the "sidebar", and that sounded like a lot of incel speak. I've also heard that the blue pill is what the red pill isn't, so without a definition, the question is unanswerable.

Nah, that's not it. I was single for a very long time, and seeing one of my friends find a relationship made me happy, both because it's always nice to see a friend be happy, and to prove that it is still possible and that it might happen to you next.

One of the reasons we could do this was that we were both well into our 30's when we married. The other reason was that I was building wealth from the beginning of my career. I graduated with a bachelors in three years, and for the first three years after that I lived with my father, and saved for a down payment on a townhouse. I then made extra payments on it and had it paid off in nine years. When my wife and I met, we both had paid off cars, she owned a home and had some equity in it, and my …

My wife was a SAHM for the first 6 years after our first child was born. After that, she worked very limited hours until both children were in high school. Hmm, I thought the consensus among the women here was that all that male attention was annoying, and now you're arguing for it. I do know one woman who lived the life you described, she was my best friend's sister. She's outgrown it, once you get past 40 this sort of lifestyle gets old and particularly for the women, the attention starts to lessen. I think you are also overestimating the number of women who can get this level of attention and those that would welcome it, especially past age 25.

It's my understanding that most women aren't interested in casual sex. I had to give up the possibility of having no strings attached gay sex, which was not a loss since I'm not gay and have no interest in casual sex. Having to give up something you have no interest in is no loss.

I'm curious as to why marrying would be more threatening to the wife's independence. From my standpoint of being married for 26 years, loss of independence has been pretty much equal.

No, the cause is demographic. There is a numerical surplus of young men. It is a mathematical certainty that some men will not find a partner.

No, the rest of the house is her domain. She makes all the decisions about furniture, wall colors, flooring materials, wall colors, where things are and what and where things are allowed. If she wants time to herself, she goes into our bedroom and closes the door, and has time to herself. I finished two rooms in our basement. One was used as a playroom when our children were young, it's now a TV room and also has a dart board. I decorated it with reproductions of classic movie posters and stills…

The female equivalent to a man cave is a she shed. I don't know anyone who has either. We have a TV room in the basement, I use it to escape from watching the shows my wife likes that I don't. When she's home, our youngest daughter tends to camp out there.

I've been a software developer for decades. Almost every developer I've worked with is married with children, and only one of the dozens was married to a woman in IT. Somewhat ironically, two of the four women developers I've worked with were single, a much higher percentage than the men.

Yes, if you're single and looking for a partner, it's a great idea to disqualify entire groups of potential partners. After all, everyone in that group is clearly defective. We as individuals should not trust their own judgement as to whether someone would make a good spouse, because clearly the hivemind is a superior source of knowledge. Single women who are past age thirty should insist on only dating men who had early relationship experience and are now available because they could not sustai…

For single men who are past their mid 20s, if they don't have a good social network, they will struggle to meet an appropriate partner. By that age, many of his friends are paired up, and it's difficult to rebuild your social network when most of the people you know are in relationships and you are not.
/r/PurplePillDebate27/05/24 02:04 PM

What I gather from this is that women don't like to make the first move, not that men will always be in charge. What I think most women would like is for men to make the first move and have the ability to anonymously decline the offer.

I think your appraisal of what young women study is off base. There are plenty of other careers that require a bachelors degree (nursing, most other medical specialties, teaching, etc) and others that most employers will want a bachelors (marketing, project management, accounting, etc)

It’s not so much that you need to find someone with common interests as common values and attitudes. For example, my favorite thing is sports car racing, which is overwhelmingly male. It’s unlikely I’d meet a woman going to races, and I didn’t. I took up tennis, and that’s ultimately how I met my wife.

What we did was for my wife to cut back her hours drastically, to where she was scheduled for two four hours in the evenings per week. As a former skinny boy, I'm quite familiar with what it's like to be weaker, plus that idea that it's wrong to hit girls didn't apply, so I'm familiar with what it's like to be pushed around, pushed down on the ground, and being sat on by boys bigger than I was. As far as "As a woman, I think I’d fight a lot more people and start more arguments but other than that, not much would change." goes, as a grown man you should not be getting in fights, that will get you jail or worse.

I've lived a long time and I've never heard of that concept. Also remember that older men are as a general rule not attractive to young women, so it's not like a husband has much hope to divorce his wife for a younger woman. It does happen occasionally, but it's not common.

My wife was 35 when I met her. We've been married for 26 years. She's just as beautiful today as she was the day I married her. Don't let those redpillers fill you full of their nonsense, there isn't a wall. Older men, for the most part, find older women desirable. There are a few men who want to chase women that are much younger, but you don't want one of those.

Sounds like a lot of incel-speak and not so much real life. Also, the older you are the less time it take to determine that you are compatible. I met my wife when she was 35 and I was 39. I think we started to discuss baby names, and on dates we looked for houses.

Hell no. My wife was a SAHM for a number of years. She needed time to herself, and a break from cooking. This isn't a business partnership, it's a romantic relationship. You want a dead bedroom post haste, followed by a divorce/breakup? Then sit around the house while your partner is cleaning and cooking all the time.

Father of two here. I love being a father, our daughters are now young adults and are smart, pretty, and well behaved. I have no regrets. But, I would have to say anyone who would volunteer to become a single parent is either wildly delusional about how much work it is to raise children, is wealthy enough to hire a full time nanny, or just plain old fashioned crazy. I do know some people who have made fairly decent single parents, but they all had an ex to lean on. This is a terrible idea.

Child support is also adjudicated in the court system. If you don't want to pay child support and a paternity test shows that you're not the father, than you're in the clear provided you never accepted paternity.
/r/PurplePillDebate06/03/24 05:02 PM

If you think you need to verify, that's between you two, the government doesn't need to be involved. If the idea of having to ask for a paternity test bothers you, you may want to rethink what you're doing.
/r/PurplePillDebate06/03/24 04:44 PM
11

Why can't you? If you both have multiple partners, it's completely reasonable that she should take a paternity test. If you are exclusive, I see your point as you are now accusing her of cheating, but if you can't trust her, why are you still with her?
/r/PurplePillDebate06/03/24 04:11 PM

For those of us who don’t get involved in casual sex, it’s a nonissue. I see no reason the government should get involved. If a woman says that you are the father and you think you are not, then you two can settle this.

Most young women are looking for a relationship, not a hookup. The issue most young men who are looking for the same will run into is that they outnumber the available women in their age group. It's especially difficult for men in the 21 to 25 age group, as most young women will prefer a man who is a few years older, and the women a few years younger than you will be difficult to meet if you're out of school. That's a silly incel phrase. Most people meet and date people of their same socioeconomic group because that's who is in their social groups. Maybe if you mostly experience relationships from social media you might think that, but that's not reality for the vast majority.

I really don’t understand why the OP thinks that most women, especially married women with children, have suitors who are just waiting for their chance with her. Again, there are more young men than young men, because more baby boys are born than baby girls. There are more elderly women than elderly men because men don't live as long as do women. Only in later middle age are the male and female populations equal in number.

I was 44 when our second was born. She will get her bachelor's degree later this year, I'll be 66. Fortunately I'm still in good health and am still able to work full time in my chosen career. Unless you are independently wealthy, i wouldn't push this later than your early 40s.

At all ages, there are more men than women that describe themselves as single and looking for dating and relationships. There's no way to fix that, so anything you do in this space is going to leave some men out.

Yes, most countries have more women than men, but the surplus women are elderly and for the most part are widows and divorcees. The exceptions are countries with high birthrates, where much of the population is young, and countries where sex selection has been practiced. (China, India)

" more young women are single than men " I can't find a population where this is true. Nature provides a surplus of boys over girls so in nearly all societies I'd expect to find more single men, and every country that I've looked at, that is the case.

The country that has the lowest fertility rate in the world is South Korea, If the current fertility rate holds, the next generation will be 30 percent as large as the current generation. South Korea is both very densely populated and it is quite competitive. If you have children, you want them to succeed, and if what it takes is for them to get a Masters degree, you don't have many children.

I've never heard anyone say that a man's appearance isn't important. Over an over, the advice I've heard was that a man should find some clothes that fit and flatter him, get a good haircut, and either shave or grow a neat beard. Population pyramid of the United States Please take a look at this. See that darker blue area at the left side of the bottom half of the pyramid? That's the surplus of boys and men. Because men have a higher mortality rate than do women, the male surplus disappears at around age 48, and then a surplus of women begins age 58, and becomes quite pronounced past age 65. You're very kind to say that. The design is straightforward, the base is 2x8 pressure treated pine, and the uprights are 4x4 pressure treated as well. The second level is 2x6 pressure treated support beams. It was all held together with carriage bolts, and the siding and flooring put on with deckmate screws. When my daughters had outgrown it, we disassembled it and moved it to another family's home. The only part that had to be replaced were the shingles on the roof.

As a general rule, in any heterosexual relationship, the couple will have as much sex as the partner with the lower libido wants. No. Internet availability is near ubiquitous in many parts of the world, that doesn't make you privileged. I went to school with a number of kids who were from lower middle class households, I wouldn't describe them as privileged. A couple of them had gotten themselves into legal trouble by the time they got to high school. In the U. S, there are plenty of lower middle class families you wouldn't think of as being privileged.

My sense of self preservation prevents me from ever having thought that would be a good idea. I had just turned 39 when I met my wife, she had just turned 35. We were married 13 months later, when you're in your mid 30s you know what will work and what will not. She was pregnant on our first anniversary but that pregnancy wasn't viable, so our first born came along shortly after our second anniversary. We were planning on waiting two years before starting on child #2, but my wife became pregnant 9 months after the firstborn, despite her still nursing baby #1 AND taking the mini-pill.

I'm a boomer. That era you refer to where a high school graduate could support a family while only having a high school education belonged to my parents generation, it was not possible for us. The other thing you have to remember on this is that this was for a lower standard of living. This is living in a 3 bedroom 1 bath house that was maybe 1200 square feet, one car, 99% of meals cooked at home, no air travel, no cable TV, vacation would be driving to visit relatives.

I assume that's a hypothetical number, but if a woman who is above average in attractiveness joins a dating app, would she not get at least 100 responses? Let's get the terminology straight. The vagina is the body part between the cervix and the external genitals, which collectively are called the vulva. Unless you are a gynecologist, it's pretty unlikely you'll see a vagina in person, you'll need a speculum and a flashlight to see it. If your partner shaves her pubic hair, you can see the labia. Men are easy to bring to orgasm, women less so. Women also are less similar in what they like. When you're with someone new, you're going to have to find…

What I took from the OP's post is that a woman friend is somewhat jealous of him now that he has a girlfriend, and commented that this woman never tried to "claim him", assuming that this woman wanted to date him. I observed a similar situation shortly after I asked my wife to marry me. We met playing tennis on a mixed doubles team, and my wife-to-be was friendly with all of them and close to two of them. About half of them were married, and a few of them mentioned that my bride-to -be was lucky…

When my wife and I got engaged, I think a few of the other women in her circle were somewhat jealous. It's not that they wanted me, it's that she was engaged, and they would have liked to have been engaged as well. Is this female friend unattached? That's true. My favorite thing is sports car racing. At a typical race you could count the number of unattached women on the thumbs of one foot, so you'd have to do something else as well. Tennis, volleyball, and running have a good gender balance. To illustrate that there are good reasons why a man may want to communicate with a woman that have nothing to do with trying to find a date. Normally when you're driving on the highway and another motorist is trying to get your attention it's to let you know there's something going on with your car. Road rage incidents usually occur after some interaction between two vehicles, which wasn't the case here.

I certainly understand women's needs to protect themselves but sometimes they take it too far. I was driving and a car with a purse sitting on its roof merged onto the highway. I pulled up alongside of her and tried to get her attention but she wouldn't acknowledge me. Eventually the purse went flying off into the weeds and I continued on. I've always wondered if she got to her destination , went to get her purse, and then realized why that man in a red van was trying to get her attention.

There are instances where women get in a relationship with a man who has a level of status to get to a position, and then kicks him to the curb. It’s uncommon because the vast majority of men don’t have that status and most women aren’t trying to achieve something that would require that status.

The day to day stuff I do, like maintain the yard, shop for groceries, and make dinner aren't romantic, regardless of which one of us does them. A romantic gesture is something extra that isn't required, like bringing home a favored bottle of wine or flowers when there's no occasion. When we were dating, my wife went to my place and put an "I love you" note on my mirror in the bathroom. That is a romantic gesture. Cooking dinner on a Wednesday, which I do, is not.

I have to pull on the red card on this one. It's women who overwhelmingly want to have children. I don't doubt that there are women in traditional cultures are forced into the wife and mother role, but that's done by the entire culture, and is driven by the women. The woman I was dating before I met my wife didn't want children, and I was OK with that, it we'd stayed together (she broke us up) I would have been fine being childless, the woman I married did want children and we do have a family.

My wife was a SAHM for most of our children's first 15 years of life. Once the oldest could drive, she started working part time, and eventually went back full-time. We've been married 25 years and are rock solid. No woman who wants to raise a family full time is lazy.

I did learn to ride, or at least as much I could, being a first grader on a full sized quarter horse, but it did nothing for me, I had no interest. I think there's a reason that girls tended to be horse crazy and boys did not. There was one time when my sister and I, probably ages 7 and 9 were riding double and bareback, her in front with the reins. When my sister cued the horse to trot, I started to slide back since I didn't have anything to hold onto, and the horse took exception to someone tr…

Ugh, my sister too. I spent most of my early childhood being dragged to the stable multiple times per week so my sister could ride, plus get dragged to parties and kept up until 2 AM, then went home reeking of cigarette smoke and woke up the next morning with a headache. Hey, but at least I learned an important life lesson, that I didn't count, it was what everyone else wanted that was important, just the very beginning of my self esteem issues.

I'm a guy, have one sister. She was a royal pain growing up, bossy and critical, and overly dramatic even though she got her way almost all of the time. She's rather different than most women, so there's nothing I learned about women in general from her. As adults, we have a very good relationship, when she's in town we have a lot of fun. She is a bit of a misandrist and I have to call her on that occasionally but it really doesn't affect how we interact.

There are 105 boys born for every 100 girls, so there are more young men than young women. Men have a higher mortality rate at all ages, so there are more older women, but when you sum that up there are slightly more females than males. A recent development is that young women increasingly are identifying as bisexual, and those who are in a same sex relationship aren't dating men.
