I didn't see anyone suggest it so I'll mention it. /r/xxfitness its a really nice workout subreddit for women. Absolutely. I agree. Everyone is capable of suffering the same problems. Your suggestion of more support is definitely an important factor in helping these men and women, but it's not the only one. People also need to ask for help. Like you said, deviantizing disorders doesn't help anyone. Counceling and rehab also need to be more available and affordable. Not arguing. Just adding to this conversation... It's very difficult for anyone to receive help for an eating disorder. The APA has a check list for every named disorder. If you don't meet each condition then you don't have the disorder. Insurance won't pay for treatment unless you have a disorder.
