Seems like only the UK has legitimized concepts like economic abuse and power/abuse dynamics while the USA just respects power for power's sake and would laugh at the phrase economic abuse. Honestly I don't imagine very many neighboring countries that would actually let you hide there. It's better to randomly select a place for a bugout. Of course there is always a chance you will be found especially with whatever footprints (especially digital) you leave but you can reduce probability and try not to be obvious and easy pickings that they can also sensationalize as "the ones that try to get away get caught."
