Good for her. Financial independence helps keep us free from all sorts of toxicity, including men and jobs.

From everything I have read, it removes those who are already following you as well.

Following a person is like subscribing to a sub. If they follow you, they see your posts in their feed. If you don't allow followers, people can still find your posts, they just have to go looking for them instead of having them served up in their feed. So it makes it a teensy bit more work for stalkers to harass their victims.

Unfortunately, disallowing followers won't prevent this from happening. It will just make a little less convenient for a stalker to keep tabs on you. Stay safe! Block him. Turn off DMs. Turn off followers.

Following someone is like subscribing to them in the same way one subscribes to a sub. Any post you make anywhere can show up in their feed. Why does reddit allow this? Monetization at the expense of users' safety. Accounts with lots of followers are bought and sold for advertising. There are spam bots set up to follow everyone they can with the hope the 1-2% will follow their advertising account in return. Stalkers and harrassers take advantage of the follow feature to make it easier to keep ta…

It's a fairly new feature, it wasn't available when I last did a privacy and security review about 3 months ago. Sorry to hear you have to deal with that sociopath. Please consider deleting your reddit account and creating a new one and keep it anonymous. Reddit does even less than Facebook, Twitter, and IG when it comes to allowing their users protect themselves. Reddit is not the place for non-anonymous posting, imo.

You can control whether your reddit username shows up in search engines, like Google. It's under User Settings > Safety & Privacy > "Show up in search results" To my knowledge, there is no option to prevent someone from searching for your username within reddit. Also, I have no idea have effective this "don't show up in search engines" option is. Please continue to follow all other safety measures, like not sharing any identifying information.

Black Panther 2 is going to be a double whammy when Shuri takes on the mantle of Black Panther after Boseman died . Powerful, badass woman of color. And her lab with the afro-futurist design was so cool.

Lol, "as seen in The New York Times". Did the Times have an editorial roasting them as a mansplaining convention?

I do hike and 100% agree, it is not a date activity. It is a workout. Would a guy take a girl to the gym to lift weights or run on the treadmill as a first date?

Oh, man. The first guy wasting six days a week in the gym for that? His muscle imbalances and poor mobility is obvious within the first few steps of his run. He needs to stop wasting his time and hire a trainer who can tell him wtf he needs to do. The other two clearly think getting up from the couch a few times a day to be an acceptable exercise regimen.

He started out feeling guilty (as he fucking should) but look at his edit. Whatever sub he posted on, they talked him into believing his desire to hurt another person is ok because they can slap a "kink" label on it.

Oh, look. The pedophile molester who lost his acting job to Tig Nataro. I am sure he is a bumbling idiot in this clip, but I won't be giving his YoutTube account any clicks.

We need to be careful about brigading another sub here. Don't give them any excuse to try to shut down this sub.

Or claims that FDS is the female equivalent to incels. Involuntary celibate, please. I am avoiding shitty men very intentionally and voluntarily.

When people say "not all men", THIS! sure, not every man is an abuser or a rapist. But we must evaluate the risk of interacting with EACH AND EVERY man.

I love reading what millennials think so that I know how I should behave. /s Fortunately, they are starting to pick on the Zoomers now so I can go take my avocado toast and sit quietly in the corner with Gen X, waiting for the Boomers to die.

That was a reference to a screenshot that made its way around the sub a while back. Hopefully someone still has it and comments a link, it's a riot. Some dude was butthurt that he was turned down for a date "in this really nice field that I know".

She should bleed on all his possessions; his PlayStation, his car seat, everything. Borrow his gym shorts and stain the crotch. Leave blood in the toilet and don't flush. And then divorce him.

Do they mean a father protecting his own kid (basic expectation for any parent) versus an unrelated woman protecting herself instead of a kid who isn't hers?

Agreed, if he really is being honest about her behavior towards her dogs, it's a bit much. But when we run across weirdo men, we ditch them. We don't try to manipulate them into being better; it never works. We don't gossip about them to our entire social circles (unless they are abusive and we need to warn other women). We don't string them along until something better comes along. We end the relationship and move on as soon as we determine there is a lack of compatibility. Dude would have been…

Give it a try! Don't let the fear of assholes prevent you from enjoying your hobby. Just be skeptical if all are men and tagalong girlfriends/wives; that will be a good sign the group will be more trouble than it is worth.

100%, except I want to throw a small tip on this: I would have been more impressed if a man was brewing his own beer. Brewing, both the home brew and craft brew scenes, are notorious boys clubs. I home brew and have tried going to homebrew meetups to meet other hobbyists and they are awful every single time. I am peppered with men explaining the basics in a condescending manner, men assuming I am just the girlfriend tagging along with the boyfriend who brews, to being told outright "beer isn't f…

If they don't have the emotional fortitude to put together a bedframe, why would anyone think they have the emotional fortitude for a girlfriend? Is this article intended to scare women away from nest dwellers? It's working.

Watch them cry when it is pointed out that the bio dad's age contributes way more to autism risk than the mom's age. I love bringing this one up every time someone says 30+ women are past child-bearing age. It showed that men in their 30s are 1.6 times as likely to have a child with autism as men under 30; men in their 40s have a sixfold increase Source

The company I work for pays for college degrees. Anyone who has worked there over a year can very easily get approved to have a whole bachelor's, masters, MBA, PhD, whatever, paid for. Almost every single woman in the office has had at least one degree covered by this program, many of them are working on second or third degrees. No single men are currently in the program. Why would a person not jump at a free degree? No spouse, no kids, no big commitments to take up your time, and still can't be…

Feel empathy for them, not disgust. They are deeply unhappy and brainwashed to think their value is tied up in mens' opinions of them. I hope that someday they can heal from their body dysmorphia, anxiety, depression, whatever is contributing to their low sense of self-worth. Or they are men posting photos of women they took from the internet, LARPing as their fictional ideal: an insecure, powerless woman ripe for abuse from men.

What an incoherent word salad. I wouldn't think having such a standard would be necessary, but here it is: I require at least a high school level writing ability. Subject, verb, direct object. Matching verb tenses. Sentences that follow each other in a rational order. It's a lot to ask for, I know. I will probably end up alone and sad for lack of a man who knows his own native language.

I crossed paths with one not too long before Covid hit, he had his current gf with him. She could have been my doppelganger, same hair, same body type, same general fashion, glasses like I used to wear when we were together. I had to hold in the giggles when I saw her. She seemed very intelligent too, as she was obviously annoyed with him all evening. I heard she dumped him weeks later. And another married a woman, has two kids, and seems totally bland but fine. I feel for his wife, he was very …

My cousin and her husband are nomadic van people. She was before she ever met him, it is her chosen lifestyle. He enhances her life in so many ways. He is her HVM and his net worth has nothing to do with it.

Not just lawyers, another politician. A female politician. Rep. Priscilla Giddings, a Republican from the tiny community of White Bird, shared the link with Doe’s name and photo in a newsletter to constituents and said the allegations were nothing more than a “liberal smear job.” She also shared the blog post with thousands of followers on social media, making the intern’s identity widely known. I hope she chokes on her shame every day for the rest of her life for what she did to this intern. An…

I remember riding in the car as a teen while my dad was driving. He slowed down to steer around a guy who was standing in the middle of the road. My dad was about to roll down the window to check on him when I yelled, "no! He has his hand down his pants!" My dad quickly accelerated and called the non-emergency line instead because the guy looked likely drunk and putting himself in danger. My dad asked me how I figured out so quickly that the guy was fondling himself since the guy was turned away…
