I think that as men in general are a lot more reticent about sharing their feelings we're very vulnerable to psychological abuse, especially isolation tactics. You're almost ashamed to admit it. I was going to potentially disagree, but on reflection you're completely right. It's similar to how the concept of diversity is great, except it's applied using parameters that society should be aiming to make irrelevant. It's a great quote, and addressing how language is used as a weapon is crucial. We see a lot of situations where common use of words has evolved/been forcibly changed and acceptance is forced as "common use of language has always shifted. Get over it". This is fine, and no one argues but the issues arise when the new meaning is retrofitted into historical usage. Or when words with differing means are combined under a blanket heading.

It's interesting that Romantasy/smut/dark romance have many main male characters that display almost all the character tropes you've mentioned BUT they don't behave this way towards the protagonist once they get through their initial conflict. So no mixed messages to see here

Just Google "Barbary pirates". To be honest if whites had white slaves, blacks had black slaves, indigenous people all over the Americas enslaved each other, it's not a giant leap to realise that slavery was a world norm and anyone would enslave anyone if the could. For mens issues the stats are out there on whatever topic you wish to explore, so I tend to focus on the smaller scale of how I see it playing out in my own life and with regard to the people I know.

It's a spectacular time to be alive. Naming in ever increasingly intersectional minutia the groups who are perceived as victims and so need support to the level that it includes everyone except one group (to be fair several, but mainly male) is a very convoluted way to just be prejudiced against that group.

If your choice is voting for someone who is hurting other groups (which you don't want to do because you're not a dick) or voting for someone who is good for the other groups but blames you it's understandable why Reps are winning the young male vote. I'm in the UK but similar situations here. People are sick of being told that their concerns are a) invalid b) bigoted. If you aim to win votes by convincing the populace to see the error of their ways and cast aside their lived experience you'll lose. In the US the Democrats seem to reject you if you don't adhere to everything (as per your example) whereas the Republicans welcome you in with one shared belief.

Yes but "misogyny comes from a position of institutionalised power and privilege" something something something......
