Men get called things that other groups would never get called. When you bring up men's issues, the very same social justice crowd using inclusive language has no problem accusing you of being a school shooter wannabe, having small dick energy, or living in your mom's basement. I thought we were supposed to be getting away from stereotypes?

I think you've stumbled upon something very astute - we are wired to have a lower threshold for aggression and more physically capable of getting what we want via that aggression. I think the problem is that it is hard to exactly connect the dots from birth to adulthood as to why a particular person would engage in a behavior. We are getting close to it though with behavioral genetics and epigenetics. I'd encourage you to read into that - Robert Sapolsky and Robert Plomin are elite in that field…

I'd be interested to see i the sentencing is equivalent to men who do the same thing, to see if the double standard against men is dissipating (at least in the UK, I'm US). The fact that she called the child into a room is damning - that shows intent. I wonder if she thinks the fact that she's hott would win her some sympathy, and I'm glad it didn't. Justice is served.

I'm really into evopsych too, but I more know about it from listening to lectures from people I enjoy in the field, like David Buss, Diana Fleischman, William Costello, etc. Not as much from the actual studies, though I've read some. One thing that comes to mind is that last names actually are more advantageous to women because while it might mean you are "property" in some sense (or used to be, not anymore, thankfully), it lays a claim ON the man to provide resources. The media loves to gloss over the fact that one of his specialties is assertiveness training for women to better outcompete men in male-dominated fields, like business. If he cried when talking about that, they'd praise him for his wokeness and being in touch with his emotions. But crying about helping suicidal men is no dice, no dice at all. Fuck those guys!

My overall diagnosis of the problem is that we are treating people and nature as means to an end rather than ends in of themselves deserving of dignity and equity. I think that's certainly the reason for massive economic suffering, the looming WW3 situations, and identity groups clashing. It's become all about acquisition of resources, land, status, even status at the top of the oppression pyramid rather than ending the oppression that exists.

It is sometimes used to describe male tendencies that are actually toxic and destructive, like meathead, macho bullshit that teen guys do. That's the charitable version of the term. More often, it is used to dismiss male tendencies that are perfectly healthy or natural, but deemed inconvenient to women and shut down any constructive conversation.

Gossip, slutshaming, and cancel culture. I work in a field with mostly women, with usually no problem most of the time.
