Eventhough mahre Fatimi is sunnah but not compulsory. In the khilafat of Umar RA when he gave a speech a against maximum mahr and tried to make a limit for mahr, one lady stood up and said oh Umar if Allah and his messenger didn't make any limit for it why would you do then Umar RA said you are right.
