Yes. My god I have done it over and over. Poured my heart, energy, time, money and care into a man with the hope or expectation that it will be some beautiful, mutual thing. It has never been, ever, and I'm in my 40s. I feel strongly and often like I hate myself for doing this, but maybe the hate is misdirected. Maybe nothing was wrong with me for wanting to nurture someone and hoping it would be reciprocated. Maybe the men who took and took from me are the ones who should hate themselves.

He's hilarious, confident, smart, driven, self deprecating, sarcastic and supportive. To many women these traits are immensely attractive.

"Alpha" men disgust me. More than anything in the world I like kindness and gentleness. Shared compassion and commitment make me happier than anything you can buy with money.

Today is my anniversary. I got my husband a really cool digital frame to keep at work so I can send him family photos throughout the day, which he loves. He got me um... what was it... oh right, nothing. Bless his heart, he got me the same thing for my birthday last year.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
