| 1 | Remember the gold. He’s kind of on the line for me. I still actually find him really funny, but somebody like Chris Rock ends up going past what even Chappelle does. It’s also about the delivery as well. Most of the time Chappelle’s voice doesn’t grate on me, whereas Rock has an annoying-as-hell voice and I remember him ripping off some Eddie Murphy jokes. I don’t expect identity to just completely disappear from the act, but there’s a point where it’s like, “Ok, I get it, you’re [X]. Can we move on?” | /r/PussyPassDenied | 20/10/20 02:45 PM |
| 17 | Remember the gold.I feel the same way about any comedian that overuses their gender, sexuality, race, or ethnicity in their stand-up routine. There’s some comedians that try to beat you over the head with their identity, whereas I think the funnier ones tend to mix it up and make jokes that anyone can get or relate to. Writing what you know is one thing, but making it the cornerstone of your act is just annoying. | /r/PussyPassDenied | 20/10/20 12:06 PM |
