Why not start it off? Catch a girl's eye, then when she looks at you, smile, hold it for a second then break eye contact and move on. She will remember you.

It's only terminology for the field report. He certainly could have gone with great detail into exactly how the kiss made him feel and what if meant for him in his life, but that's not the point of these things. Think of it as the way you describe a game of chess. You could go into the drive and meaning behind every move, and what the players were planning at each step, or you could use the shorthand notation and just list the moves, as the people reading it later already understand what motivat…

It builds up to be something potentially horribly awkward, then defuses it all with a nonsensical question. It's the punchline without knowing that you're telling a joke. A delay before the final bit would probably be best, though this kind of thing would only work on people who have a decent sense of humor.

Yep. Move on. You tried, failed. Try again with someone else. At least this way you leave with dignity, and you're no longer damaging yourself by keeping someone you're pining over so close to you.

Lack of sleep plus xanax probably made you a little bit of a zombie, I would guess that's what the others were picking up on. As far as carrying on a conversation past the openers, look at this article that was posted the other day (ignore the cheesy banner across the top). Pretty good stuff, something to keep in mind during those floundering times of one line conversations where you're just treading water instead of swimming.
