I'm not contradicting myself. Bacteria traveling by air or water is irrelevant. My point was that it will spread either way. So it's pointless to close the lid. But that a closed lid will get a lot dirtier due to the water splashing against it. You do that everyday it will get real dirty. That's why i said i rather keep the lid up. It doesnt get that far. The point is a closed lid will get a lot more wet than the floor or its surroundings. But yeah you should keep your toothbrush in a small wall closet because otherwise it gets dirty regardless how you flush it.

You dot understand. This isn't about toilets. If water splashes and some drops splatter so high it ends up on the floor. Imagine all the drops that splatter but dont reach high enough. The drops who wont reach the floor will surely reach the closed lid. So the lid being 8 inches away from the water will get a lot more dirty than the floor for which the water has to travel further to reach.

My toothbrush isn't in the bathroom with my toilet. Who the hell keeps their coat in the bathroom? You walk away right when you flush, no water will hit me. Shit bacteria fills the air whether you put a lid on or not. You dont understand that a lid that close to the water gets a lot more dirty than the few drops possibily touching the floor?

Well i thought the fan was part of the ac system. Either way we dont have it here. Some bathrooms are so small, it only fits a toilet so when you take a nasty dump and close the door, the air will not go anwhere. Smells for hours.

I walk away when i flush so no it wont get on my feet. And less water falls on the floor which are just tiles, than on the toilet lid because the lid is a lot closer to the water once closed so it will get a lot dirtier. I also prefer to mop the floor as opposed to getting a sponge and clean the shit covered lid with my hands.
