I’m not advocating for them to “speed up” the decision making or appeal process, rather it should be made more efficient. I’m not a lawyer, just a layman looking from the outside at a clearly broken system, so I’m not sure as to what the specific changes need be. There’s plenty of these cases, and the fact that the appeals process can be drawn out as long as a life sentence would be served is an issue with the system, not a flaw of the death penalty itself. Well, the death sentence removes them society, doesn’t require decades of taxpayer money to house and feed them, and gives some closure to the victims.
