Legality of spying on cell/tablet devices/invasion of privacy and datingI don’t know about Michigan, but my state of Georgia is a no fault state. However, committing adultery does take collecting alimony off the table here. If someone would normally qualify for alimony, but you can show the court that the marriage ended due to that person being unfaithful, then that person no longer qualifies for alimony. Beyond that, adultery gets you nothing but expensive lawyer fees. | /r/Divorce_Men | 08/05/23 02:43 AM
What are some things you do with/for your kid(s) that make you feel like you're a good dad?It may seem simple, or even silly, but we go see movies. Their mom is not a fan of movie theaters, and my daughters love seeing movies in theaters. So, when I new movie is out, we make plans to go see it. We’ve also taken road trips to different beaches, since that’s another shared interest. | /r/Divorce_Men | 02/03/23 01:14 PM
Nothings getting betterMy wife of 20+ years decided she wanted to split last year. I don’t blame her for this, because I know I have more than enough blame for where we ended up. In an instant, I felt my entire life come to a screeching halt. I had my pistol in my hand, and wanting everything to end. That was almost 9 months ago. I found a therapist and men’s group. I’ve lost weight. My career has continued to advance. Women have shown interest in me. I know things seem bleak right now, but I promise you there is plen… | /r/Divorce_Men | 24/02/23 05:57 PM
| -1 | Get citizenship in another country to avoid Alimony and CS?He literally said he would never be able to come back to the states. How would he see his child? After fleeing the country to avoid his financial responsibilities, do you really believe anyone would allow his child to travel internationally in order to visit? This guy is being a selfish coward, and would rather never see his child than just being a grown up. | /r/Divorce_Men | 15/12/22 10:45 PM |
Get citizenship in another country to avoid Alimony and CS?So, the best solution is to leave the country and never see his child again? That’s a selfish and cowardly move. Child support and alimony can both be modified, and neither one last forever. What will last forever is the damage caused to the child from having to grow up without a father. | /r/Divorce_Men | 15/12/22 10:37 PM
Get citizenship in another country to avoid Alimony and CS?Is sending money from another country the same as raising your child? Definitely not. He needs to step up and be a father. | /r/Divorce_Men | 15/12/22 10:24 PM
| -3 | Get citizenship in another country to avoid Alimony and CS?You’re right. Abandoning your child is definitely the best way to handle this. | /r/Divorce_Men | 15/12/22 05:57 PM |
Get citizenship in another country to avoid Alimony and CS?Then get custody of your child and stop acting like a victim. | /r/Divorce_Men | 15/12/22 05:17 PM
Get citizenship in another country to avoid Alimony and CS?So, you’d rather abandon your child and flee the country? Seems pretty selfish. I get not wanting to pay alimony, but child support is for your child. If you think the amount is unfair, then fight it. Show your child that you can be a father and man who steps up and handles his responsibilities in a mature way. | /r/Divorce_Men | 15/12/22 04:38 PM
Transfer vehicle title and loanThat depends on the lender, and possibly the laws in your state. Some lenders will want the title changed, but others will not | /r/Divorce_Men | 08/12/22 01:04 PM
Transfer vehicle title and loanShe will need to go to a bank or credit union and secure a new loan. There is no way to just remove you from the loan. The other option would be to trade in the vehicle for a different one. | /r/Divorce_Men | 08/12/22 02:37 AM
Any luck modifying alimony? My situation is different, but similar. I was able to list out multiple conditions that can reduce or even eliminate alimony. | /r/Divorce_Men | 06/12/22 07:57 PM
Joint Account IssueAll of my money goes into my personal account now, and I only add to the joint account if I am paying a bill right then. We can both see the joint account was used to pay the bill, and that I was the one to put the money in the account. I don’t leave any extra money in that account, and it will be closed as soon as the house is sold and our joint mortgage goes away. If anything, I may leave a max of $20 in that account just in case I forget about an automatic payment for Netflix or something sma… | /r/Divorce_Men | 05/12/22 04:13 PM
Divorced and singleMy 21st anniversary would be in a month, but I doubt there will be any celebration, even though we will still technically be married. I am absolutely going to counseling, for myself. I need to heal. I want to be the best man that I can be, and I feel that will allow me to be the best father I can be, and eventually, the best partner/husband that I can be when the time is right. | /r/Divorce_Men | 13/07/22 09:47 PM
Ex wife wants quitclaim deed…help please!!You are on the hook if she can’t pay. Also, do you want your share of the equity in the home? | /r/Divorce_Men | 25/06/22 05:01 AM
What advice would you give to a single 20 year old man for his eventual future relationship and marriage with a woman?Prenuptial, no matter what your status in life is. | /r/Divorce_Men | 22/06/22 03:05 AM
DatingI agree with you. I guess the reason I asked is because my mother left my dad when he was 49, and he never started dating again. He’s 72 now, and completely alone except for his sons and grandchildren. I know that’s an extreme case, but I also just don’t have any experience in my family with this. My mother remarried in 6 months, but she had already been having an affair before leaving. That marriage lasted a few years, and she has had one abusive relationship after the next since then. | /r/Divorce_Men | 21/06/22 07:38 PM
Wife wants a divorceThe $2300 was using the Georgia calculator. She carries the health insurance and flex spending for child care, so her checks have more deductions than mine do. It’s cheaper to go through her employer than through mine. | /r/Divorce_Men | 20/06/22 06:46 PM
Wife wants a divorceWhat I was meaning is that the support would be approximately $23xx per month. After receiving support, she is basically bringing in $90k per year, and my income would basically be lowered to $90k. So we would each have the same amount of money to live on. | /r/Divorce_Men | 20/06/22 02:41 PM
Wife wants a divorceShe has stated that she is ok with 50/50 custody, however I work out of state and will be living in a travel trailer for an indefinite time after the divorce. She makes half of what I make, but, after using the GA child support calculator, it appears our total income will be pretty much equal after she receives child support. She feels entitled to more than that, because she has realized how expensive it will be living on just one source of income. | /r/Divorce_Men | 20/06/22 12:08 PM
