No, my initial comment was against the guy saying toxic gendered behaviors don't exist. I appreciate your acknowledgment of them, but the behaviors outlined in the post are by no means culturally ingrained. Instead, you spouted some defensive Incel rhetoric that just exposes and solidifies your confirmation bias. I just acknowledged the futility of this discussion.

Ah yes. Thank you. I was unclear as to the meaning of this sub, and merely stumbled upon the post in r/all. In my ignorance I made the mistake of trying to clarify the meaning and lived reality of toxic gender roles to individuals who epitomize them. In the future I will try to ignore my historic, cultural privilege while browsing the internet as you all surely do.

I'm not saying that doesn't exist, I'm pointing out how he's wrong in believing that neither exist. The things he mentioned are not similarly culturally and ideologically ingrained as "proper" gendered behaviors. So, no, that's not toxic femininity. Like the op in the pic said, it exists but it's not parallel. Toxic femininity is the detrimental behaviors that come from prescribed cultural "femininity." Inherently not oppressive to a whole cultural group.

His statement is like saying racism doesn't exist because he doesn't see color. Toxic masculinity isn't based on the idea that it's behavior inherent in males, it's that cultural and ideological norms have developed in a gendered way that puts expectations on males to behave in ways that are detrimental to female, other males, and themselves.
