You clearly don't though since you're arguing something besides the point. Insecurity is generally relative and is done against your peers, it has no bearing on the OP's point that they could be so low in self-esteem that they'll get with the average dude. You'd need to be doing olympic-level mental gymnastics to arrive at that conclusion, unless those girls are either very young or unusually sheltered.

They might be insecure when comparing themselves to other girls on their level or above, but they're not going to actually think they're not pretty compared to the average person, you're kind of misunderstanding how self-comparison and insecurity works.

That's not what I've seen, especially in nightlife environments. There are plenty of guys who will not hesitate to shoot their shot and they're going to outnumber the guys who are hesitant especially if she's very good looking. As for the self-esteem thing, that stuff is relative. A beautiful girl can have self-esteem issues because she compares herself to her peers, but she's still going to know she's attractive, she's not going to think she's the same level as an average person, be serious.

A beautiful woman can have low self esteem and can think that she isn’t that attractive. Who do you know like that? I've never met a beautiful woman who didn't know she was beautiful that was past high school age. Do you really think men don't approach beautiful women? I'm sorry but that's extremely naive, beautiful women (and men) get approached a lot. They quite literally have a surplus of attention from people they actually want.

You probably aren't attractive enough. A lot of people are gonna dance around saying this but yeah, if you want women to give you super strong signals and not ambiguity you have to clear a certain bar. People think attraction is a binary on/off switch but it's more like a spectrum with thresholds that unlock different things. Check in on your physical shape, skin health, etc. and see what you can do. Changing things upstream generally has more compounding effects than downstream stuff like your …

Yep, you cooked. Also in my experience in these situations, when the girl is actually into you she'll indirectly hint that you two should stay in touch if she's not bold enough to be direct herself. Him finding her instagram now and trying to add her is going to be pretty creepy from her POV.

I think the whole confidence debate is classic correlation vs causation. All those dudes who grew up never receiving attention from women saw the guys who were being confident and effortless and assumed that must have been the reason and tried to recreate that trait specifically.

Why can't it be if that's what's holding him back? OP has high standards, if he wants to be competitive he needs to figure out what exactly he can work on and take actionable steps.

Hard to say without a picture of OP. He might need to get lean and athletic, he might need a hair transplant, he might need a rhinoplasty, he might need to fix his skin, or he might need all of the above. All I know is that his looks very likely don't match what he's demanding from women and he can start there instead of externalizing all his problems as other people's fault.

Attraction is a spectrum. It's entirely possible she had a mild interest in you but it wasn't strong enough for her to actually follow up on it once it required deliberate effort. That's how it is sometimes, it's less to do with the timing as two days is totally reasonable, you more than likely just didn't hit a certain threshold.

Become better looking, have actual interests in life outside of dating, develop some self awareness and drop the entitlement so you can develop some actual emotional depth. And take that chip off your shoulder about being from a different ethnic background. You can be hot while being any ethnicity.

I guess women are more jealous of other women and want that guy compared to most guys would be turned off, if they saw the girl entertaining multiple guys. Preselection absolutely works on guys. If a girl is desired by a bunch lots of men, you genuinely don't think that'll impact other men too? It's basic supply and demand. I don't know why you expanded it to "entertaining multiple guys" to make your point which is a totally different thing.

You probably need to have some level of self-acceptance first for who you are and where you're at in life and that includes your flaws and insecurities. Once you can remove your sense of shame around those things and recognize that they exist for good reason, you'll be able to see yourself as human and that's when you'll be able to connect with others as the same. From that point on is where stuff like performative behavior starts to drop off naturally.

Not really. If anything, hooking up with someone you find unattractive can be worse for your self-esteem. The more realistic path here is getting experience with people you genuinely like and are attracted to.

There's nothing wrong with wanting to be desired. The only problem is when you take that feeling and turn it into shame about where you're at in life, that's how you end up trapped in your own head. You can pursue what you want in life without telling yourself you don't have any value until you achieve it.

You yourself admit to attractiveness having scales by rating women on a 1-10 scale. Why wouldn't you fall somewhere on that scale yourself as a man? And if so, why wouldn't the women who are 8s or 9s want men at their own level?

Having high self-esteem isn't easy at all. Unless you grew up being socially validated, it takes quite a bit of self-reflection, emotional grounding and potentially physical/aesthetic changes to develop it. It's a process that can take years. Daily affirmations aren't going to cut it, your brain isn't stupid. Also, the other two traits you mentioned are downstream of high self-esteem, you could have just stopped there.

You already gave her your number so there's no need to push further and try to get her number yet. Do you two have similar breaks at work? Why not ask her to go to lunch with you on her break?

For point 1 you mention confronting her then you offer a passive aggressive comment?

This is some crazy projection. Just because it's true for you doesn't mean it applies to everyone else.

By pay them no mind do you mean being caught up in doing your own thing or actively ignoring them? If it's the former, then yeah of course women prefer that because it's less threatening. A guy flooding a woman with compliments can be downright scary if there's no reciprocity.

Because you're trying to have sex instead of actually connecting with someone and letting sex be the natural consequence of that. Women can often easily tell when you're on a date just to smash and that just makes you seem desperate and weird because of how insincere you come across.

NYC is still like this for now. To me it's the only city in the US that has a wide variety of vibes at scale. It's becoming more and more gentrified though.

Going out of your way to take professional photos for dating apps makes you appear like you're super self absorbed and boring. A dirty mirror selfie literally has 10x more personality than pictures like that. You shouldn't focus on trying to take good pics for dating apps, just start taking more pictures as a habit when you go out and do stuff both by yourself and with friends, most of the pictures won't be usable but you'll get a few gems here and there that show you off in a variety of ways - …

Don't lie, just say you're there because you enjoy the vibe of the place and the people who come there, just simply emphasize the positives of you being there alone instead of a negative like "I don't have anyone to go with".

If you're an average looking guy, then it's normal to not get much attention from random women you pass on the street. You were the guy at college because a lot of people knew you. While it's harder to recreate that kind of situation as an adult after graduating, it's totally possible. I actually have more friends and a bigger social circle now after college than I ever did in college. You essentially need to just try as many things that pique your interest as possible and stick to the ones that…

It's not because you're being introverted, it's because you're not being needy and you're in your own world doing your own thing. Women have time to notice you and see if they like your vibe and give you signals accordingly. When you have to "try" to be outgoing then they're probably sensing you're being inauthentic and feel suspicious about your intentions.

My personal view is that people who are going to cheat are going to cheat regardless of what countermeasures you try to take- you can refuse to let them spend time with members of the opposite sex I don't think that's entirely true. Refusing to let your partner spend any time with the opposite sex is obviously extreme, but everyone is subject to sexual temptation regardless of how much they love their partner. The more temptation you are exposed to - the higher the risk of cheating. If someone i…

I've noticed a disconnect between social media comments and irl experience about this topic. A lot of people comment online that they're ok with this but from what I've seen in real life, a genuinely close friendship with someone of the opposite sex almost always causes conflict in relationships. Maybe it's something that sounds completely fine in our idealistic brains but if we're actually in a position where our partner is really close to another guy/girl we'll suddenly feel something off with…

I suffered from LL in the past and it hurt my dating life but mostly in an indirect way. My LL was due to having low testosterone levels (very common reason for LL in men) which basically led to having very little motivation to accomplish anything in my life. All major aspects of my life suffered especially my fitness, career and mental health. I also put myself out there less in environments where I could even meet women, so having less success in dating was a natural consequence of all that.
/r/PurplePillDebate08/03/23 09:32 PM

But that's not what I was talking about. You said men valued it "too much" which is what I disagree fundamentally with. Of course they put great value on it -- that's just nature.
/r/PurplePillDebate10/02/23 07:32 PM

While I agree that no man is entitled to a relationship, I don't get how men are "valuing it too much". Sex and intimacy are a fundamental need for almost every human. It's near impossible to go through life without those things and maintain good mental health.

An average looking dude can punch above his weight if he knows how to act. I think this only applies in social-circle settings. If you have an established group of friends then it's possible that someone who wasn't initially attracted to you could grow to like you overtime. That's basically the way most people got together in the past. The issue is that we're so atomized now as a society that this method of getting a girlfriend is unrealistic for a lot of guys and when it comes to online dating …

Since you're only 26 which is still relatively young, age is probably not the issue. As I mentioned, standards have risen. Either you're not as attractive as you think you are or your pictures do a bad job of conveying you as attractive. The truth is probably a mix of both. Online dating is incredibly shallow so you have to embrace that to be successful. Upgrade your physique (get muscular), upgrade your style, have some interesting hobbies you do and show all of this through pictures and you ca…

2016 was a different time. Men have started to put a lot more effort into having good photos so the competition has risen across the board and you can no longer use average pictures to get quality matches (unless you're very handsome of course). You also have to consider that 2016 was 7 years ago and you've aged quite a bit since then. Have you taken care of your appearance in the meantime? How's your fitness, skin, hair compared to back then?
