In human history? Sure, men obviously did more things in the sciences, mathematics, engineering, political theory, philosophy, warfare, etc. The point your professor was trying to make is that women aren't inherently inferior and capable of pushing forward human progress in those areas as well. We've seen a bunch of female Nobel Prize winners, important engineers, philosophers, mathematicians, etc both in the past and today.
