I think I am about to join the ranks…Feels like our experiences rhyme. Mine has a memory like an elephant. Sometimes I doubt the veracity of what “exactly” she recalls as being said verbatim. According to mine I don’t know how to clean, period. Work in a restaurant related industry, spent 20 years in the .mil before current and worked in a hospital kitchen prior to that. I know how to clean. When reminded of that it’s a, “well you don’t notice X, which makes you a pig.” Lots of “I shouldn’t have to tell you” statements flung my way… | /r/Divorce_Men | 22/09/23 11:03 PM
I know what to do need to prepare firstMaybe. She’s balking at filing because she can’t afford to be on her own. She has an aversion to anything that’s less than “top shelf”, which includes apartments. In her earlier tirade she said as much, so I know what’s happening. Waiting to see if her direct deposit hits tomorrow or not. That and the absolute lack of Amazon shit arriving will tell me how focused she is on $. If she’s saving and it doesn’t hit the joint account, the fat lady just sang, but I’ll feign ignorance until discovery. | /r/Divorce_Men | 22/09/23 02:29 AM
It’s doneDamn. I’m not Christian but that hit hard. Thank you. | /r/Divorce_Men | 22/09/23 12:10 AM
I know what to do need to prepare firstThanks brother. Don’t think she’ll get kid support since the kiddo is 19. It’s definitely happening now. She just barged into the guest bedroom I’m on and demanded to know the name and title of a female coworker that I was mentoring. All because my mentee called me crying after not getting a job for an interview I indirectly helped her prep for. That turned into a “what have you done for me”conversation. I went full grey rock. She went apoplectic. So, I humored her because she asked why she shou… | /r/Divorce_Men | 22/09/23 12:07 AM
I know what to do need to prepare firstSolid advice. Should have thought of the reverse psychology angle, thanks for the pointer man. Appoint with the therapist tomorrow, will be interesting to hear their perspective, who knows, I may get some additional strategies. | /r/Divorce_Men | 21/09/23 09:57 PM
I know what to do need to prepare firstEntirely plausible. No real way to know. Highly suspect she’s either prepping or going to try and bankrupt me and then serve me. Have alerts up on all accounts now so… | /r/Divorce_Men | 21/09/23 05:10 PM
I know what to do need to prepare firstOof, average of my last 2 W2 puts me about 2.5x -3x her salary. We both signed the title, I’m the only one on the mortgage since it was a VA. I’ll hold on the appraisal until after I file. There are some smallish debts (car, daughter’s car, CC) I could take on to offset any major equity. I’ll do what I can to ignore the noise. It’s eerie how good they get at pushing the right combo of buttons. Working hard at being the grey rock for the last 2 days. | /r/Divorce_Men | 21/09/23 05:07 PM
Deep in the process and no one else to talk to.Put it out there or drop a message if you’re inclined guy, everyone needs an outlet. I’m still muddling through my process to initiate and am completely isolated. Just the responses I got on here have helped tremendously. | /r/Divorce_Men | 21/09/23 05:02 PM
I know what to do need to prepare firstAppreciate the advice. Trying to stay positive, my struggle right now is feeling depressed, not eating, etc. I’m forcing some things so I don’t downhill slide, that would be a win in her mind. Mentally, I’m gearing up for a confrontation of titanic proportions, I’d rather be mentally prepped than caught flat-footed. I know I need to file first and have to get interviewing attorneys. Since I work from home, I’m going to have to set up some strange things schedule-wise to do so without tipping my … | /r/Divorce_Men | 21/09/23 04:50 PM
I know what to do need to prepare firstMuch obliged, had planned on that audio recording angle. Definitely need to get that going sooner than later. | /r/Divorce_Men | 21/09/23 04:44 PM
I know what to do need to prepare firstI’d considered that too. Likelihood is pretty slim. She literally goes to work and comes home. Zero solo travel. MIL lives with us. Maybe a LD thing where it’s emotional, but even that’s doubtful. | /r/Divorce_Men | 21/09/23 04:42 PM
I know what to do need to prepare firstNo record at all. Definitely have my guard up for shenanigans. I’m totally above-board on the finances. Dug into it, house has like 2k equity, which is an easy buy-out. Definitely need to consult with an attorney, base I make about double what she does. I am eligible for bonuses, but they’re widely variable. Not sure how that will factor in. | /r/Divorce_Men | 21/09/23 04:39 PM
I know what to do need to prepare firstNope. Closest city to me is H-Town. Thanks. I’ve been reading up on TX law and came to the same conclusions you shared. She’ll get some of my.mil pension and about half my 401k. Funny she was asking about that a couple weeks ago when things were decent between us… Most concerned about the house. About 1.5 years into a new build, so unsure of the equity, if any. Only me on the mortgage, both on the title so a quit claim deed should work if I can get that far. Worried about the bubble and perhaps … | /r/Divorce_Men | 21/09/23 04:00 AM
She came home, f’ed up againSucks bro. Feeling empathy and solid vibes for you. Mine doesn’t drink, so it’s game on from the time she gets home until she goes to bed. Fortunately that seems to be around 7pm since she’s perpetually “exhausted.” We are both 40’s and creeping up on 21 years. Hardest part of your situation is that if she’s that trashed, the likelihood she remembers anything coming out of her mouth is nil. You’re not the cause of her drinking, that’s her choice. She’s choosing to numb something. Nobody can make… | /r/Divorce_Men | 21/09/23 02:59 AM
I know what to do need to prepare firstThanks for the link. Kiddo is 19. Not overly concerned, they’re an adult. There’s plenty of verbal abuse. Example: today MIL needs to go to the grocery. Asked where the keys were. She gave them up and simultaneously told me she wished I’d die. Emotional abuse too. I’m no saint, I’ve got PTSD, she exhibits NPD and/or Cluster-B tendencies. Volatile combo. I’ve been seeing a therapist. About a month in. Very curious as to what she says in our next session. | /r/Divorce_Men | 21/09/23 02:13 AM
I know what to do need to prepare firstIt’s a longer story, TBH. She has issues with when I drink unless I’m with her. On this trip, after she told me to not bother coming home Monday night, I showered and hit the hay. Apparently she blew me up like 15x. She’s convinced I cheated, although I did no such thing, so she’s feeling scorned and is looking to “get back at” me. Only one card she’s a joint user on. Locked it down before I got back from my work trip. | /r/Divorce_Men | 21/09/23 02:08 AM
I know what to do need to prepare firstI think she’ll fight it tooth and nail. She’s already said she’ll refuse to sign papers. Ok then. I’m considering my options but 24-hours in and she’s already trying to escalate things. Next stop is Best Buy for a digital recorder. What she doesn’t realize is that if she does nothing, it’s a default judgement and anything I’ve submitted to the court is how it goes. She will eventually lawyer up, a part of me thinks this is all a smoke show because she’s prepping. Trying to get my ducks in a row … | /r/Divorce_Men | 21/09/23 12:56 AM
