There are likely some ways you can improve yourself, so do that. Lose some weight, work out, ect. You can stop playing the game, but you can't change the rules. I get the discouraging feeling as a later starter myself at 26, but it's all just a numbers game no matter what method you use. Apps, clubs, cold approaches, ect. You'll get rejected most of the time in all of those unless you are exceptionally attractive, but statistically you will find at least some success if you keep trying.

It's not consistent, and don't let anyone tell you otherwise. It's a crapshoot every time good looks or charisma be damned. What matters is your willingness to keep trying each day or week. That is what gets you success, build your skills and accept that it is a numbers game with you in the low percentages of winning.

If you are going to approach at the gym, have a second gym lined up just in case. It's basically the same as approaching at work, not the best idea with a lot that can go wrong. The only case I've heard gym approaching work out is if you approach everyone in the gym, men and women, build good rapport all around, and kind of rule the social dynamic there.

You can. Most large cities will have a slew of hookup subs (r4r), but as others have said. They are mainly full of scammers, OF models or flakers. That said, you can get pretty good at filtering those once you know the look. Then it's just a numbers game no different than IRL. I don't even know how many I've replied to over the years, but only 2 actually happened, and only as an ONS.
