Well, doesn't hurt to ask for sources. Either way I've got something to read in free time. Sorry for bothering you.

Because you can’t select for that. How do you choose a mate with a high life expectancy? Remember, this needs to be a VISUAL cue. I mean, how do you choose a fertile person VISUALy and why it should be as such? How, say, being healthy doesn't implicate a better life expectancy more or less then any degree of fertility? It's all in future tense, hence there is no 100% certainty of either of those. Plus in order to make a selection you have to have something to select out of. Either way I was aski…

This is oversimplifying evolution assuming that procreation is readily available with no other factors in play (like time period and environment) hence overstating fertility influence in the grand scheme of things and I really don't have a desire to pursue any discussion on this topic, particularly in this form.

People who preferred mating with women in the 18-25 age range had more children and passed on more genes than those who didn’t. Look, having a preference does not equal mating nor a specific amount of children. Having options and using them is a lot more likely factor. A person fucking 20 25-45 year olds capable of bearing a child, securing birth of a child and supporting them afterwards until they reproduce will "out-evolution" a person fucking an "perfect" 18-25 y.o. or whatever. More then tha…

who mated with the most fertile / best baby making females What? Is reproducing and ensuring survival is not enough to get offspring, you have to also pass a top-end quality check? Like, sorry, Mam, you don't meet the standards of The BEST FERTILE MATE (TM), put that thing back in your vagina kind of situation?

How do you differ between a person with vasectomy\tubal ligation and without it by visual analysis? Are barren, beautiful women with 0 re productivity not going to get any D?

during the times our evolutionary drives were formed Are we talking like, millions of years here? Do you have any evidence to specify what exactly our drives, as you put it, incentives us to do regarding partners age which isn't an adaptation? If it survived this far it doesn't mean it's a good strategy, it means it's a good enough strategy given the circumstances. Dinosaurs didn't die out because somehow they were concerned about age of consent, "dating" strategy or some social issues. And more…

Not sure if you imply that old couples should be attracted sexually to each other or that they should break up due to lack of that. I mean, the OP was talking about the age when the menopause hits so... ~45 and beyond?

His name is David Buss. He’s one of the founders of the field of evolutionary psychology. I mean, considering that I googled the specified papers with his name on it I did get that. I'm not questioning his identity or position. I don't want to spend hundreds of hours to verify his claims hence the post.

A lot of words with no references. Links to studies, experiments, sources of data? So far I've got: https://psycnet.apa.org/record/1990-30832-001 for this "research". This is just too narrow, way too narrow for what it is presented as (description of the entire gender's activity) much to my disdain. https://www.researchgate.net/publication/14715297_Sexual_Strategies_Theory_An_Evolutionary_Perspective_on_Human_Mating edit: https://www.researchgate.net/publication/225515410_The_Evolution_of_Stalki…

check out this post I made about a month ago, there are a few claims being made here backed up by supporting data that you could take a look at. Which doesn't provide any concrete info on how the data was collected. Even in the first experiment is done by a limited amount of students (which isn't even stated in post) on a campus via asking people verbally. What people say is not necessarily what people do. And student campus is not necessarily representative of the entire gender either. If you u…

“Theoretical” in what terms? Guessing? Theoretical in terms of lack of experiments proving any hypothesis. I suppose I misused the term here, should've said hypothetical. I'm not very versed in scientific terms and methods. In other words I was asking for any particular works that do prove anything with experimentation and such. Or at least the data that hypothesis are based on. And not psychology in general but evolutionary psychology in particular.

While technically yes ones position does not define ones psyche and other factors per se it does influence how he interacts with other people or how they interact with him. Some people will literally demean a person for their occupation, not to mention that a job implies certain limitations and perks depending on a job\workplace etc. If there is nothing else to the person but his occupation then people will judge by the occupation. People literally cannot judge things they cannot perceive, wheth…

evolutionary psychology Sounds dodgy as hell. Psychology in of itself is dodgy due to being notoriously hard to measure and experiment on bloody anything consistently as far as I assume. Can you point to any related works or is it purely theoretical?

tingles Where did this one originate from? I see it common on these dating related subs. Is there some kind of story\meme to it?

I mean it's the same way with friendship, work etc. Ain't no one gonna give you anything for "being yourself" when there is nothing to yourself with maybe a few exceptions here and there. I feel that this idea is at heart about valuing people for being people which in turn can perpetuate some situations like "nice" guys\girls or people giving a chance to "redeem" themselves to someone who is clearly not buying it. While it might technically work for "being yourself" when you are in demand almost…

They are part of who you are. They are a result of you interacting with the world, not who "you" are per se. But to be frank, it's best to set the definition of YOU straight first. Is it the mind, soul, body, legal entity etc? This is how men view women The problem with this way of thinking is that you extrapolate some persons view onto a large, abstract group. Due to its size there will be people that share these views fully, partially, not at all, don't give a shit one way or the other and t…

broke, cheap, ugly, overweight ... pee pee You make it sound like you don't care beyond these factors though, even as a sarcastic remark.

If that is the only factor then sure, I don't buy it either. Suppose it's their business to drive their particular thought to a conclusion.

I mean, IF there is something to blame the parent for then there is something to blame him\her for. But then again, there is context to everything. But due to generalization of the topic it's nigh impossible to pinpoint any single reason nor solution that would apply to every situation or determine the reason for all the wrong things.

I don't think that one of the parents being absent will push a kid to violence on it's own. There ought to be more factors at play.

And how would one determine one value over the other? Particularly when you compare thing like intact hymen to a personal propensity to give things for free. To profess the notion that a prostitute and a Virgin are equal in value is to say that there is no meaning or purpose in life. I mean... Nihilism is a thing. And I still don't quite follow how that entails lack of meaning or purpose in life unless you are utilitarian that puts such an abstract into such a position.

Is this one of those OkCupid kind of data with sample size of ~100k thirsty guys and girls clicking at images with descriptions? Right, it is exactly that one from the bloody 2010. I'm not sure why people extrapolate this data onto the entire gender outside of OkCupid. IMO looks and preferences are individual and are not static (i.e. change over time and according to context) and you cannot judge them accurately for large groups of people hence it is pointless. I can certainly say that people ar…
