Ignoring my suggestion of an automatic 50/50 split, how would you make it more equal for fathers fight for child custody in family court?
/r/MensRights04/09/22 01:08 PM
1

I understand your sentiment but doubt 80% of divorcing fathers are helpless in that regard. It’s a choice on their part. We need to do our part too. Better still, make 50/50 custody mandatory - solves the equality concern.
/r/MensRights04/09/22 12:43 PM

I’m my opinion it should be automatically 50/50 split unless a parent is proven to be unfit.
/r/MensRights04/09/22 12:40 PM

Fun fact, (and I am too lazy to provide sources, but feel free to Google it) - around 80% of all divorcing fathers do not fight for full or shared custody. We have a lot of self-work to do on our part.

You are choosing very rare scenarios so perhaps there is nuance in complex odd events. My example of procreating based on a one-night stand is much more common and realistic, and no, you get someone pregnant under those parameters, fuck yes you are on the hook - that’s the risk of sex. Especially when it is consensual.
/r/MensRights30/08/22 11:34 AM
1

I’m confused, if you don’t have it in writing, you do not want to support a kid you produced? Literally, YOU decide to have a one night stand that gets someone pregnant, but because she doesn’t have your explicit sperm usage approval in file - you feel that should exempt you from parental duties? You know how sex works right, and why people tend to have sex?
/r/MensRights30/08/22 10:32 AM

Child support isn’t the issue. If you father a kid, they are your responsibility. The only battle going on is the degree of custody. Shared custody should be mandatory unless a parent is shown to be unfit
/r/MensRights27/08/22 09:25 AM
-3

Um, no. In the west, if you father a child, you pay child support, not necessarily alimony. Also, real men live up to the consequences of their actions. You father a kid, be there for that person now. Otherwise, you are a straight-up loser.
/r/MensRights25/08/22 06:55 AM

Good intentions have consequences too. You speak like you had a father growing up. Missing the day to day (real life) influence of a father has a massive detrimental impact. You were not there for any of that. Hopefully you can be more hands on with grandkids - it’s a great way to make amends with your kids.

What is the dating age spread you feel a sixteen year old should have? As you say, because it’s about brain development, (or lack thereof) do you feel 16 year olds should be sexually active? If so, why? Isn’t it being taking advantage of?
/r/MensRights18/08/22 06:14 PM
1

Huh, must be a cultural thing where you are. Here, two years difference at that age span is nothing. Hell, I got a blowie when I was 21 by a 16 year and at the time, age of consent was 14!!!! I dated a 20 year old when I was 32 and nobody thought anything of it. After all, 16 year olds and beyond do have what’s known as self-agency.
/r/MensRights18/08/22 09:50 AM

Fun question. As someone who actually grew up with his mom and her gf, yes, they do an okay job. However, I am a straight male and it’s clear to me in my position the best advantage would have been to have a consistent older straight male around as a role model. Relatable experience goes a long way in influencing and forming children.

I got snipped after I had my own kids with a girl I am happy with. If you are all about staying single and not wanting kids this is a great idea. I dated girls who were so toxic it would have been a nightmare accidentally procreating with them.

I got banned because I wrote while women have no problem making fun of men becoming awkward when the topic of periods come up, they can’t have a serious, realistic conversation about the natural tendency for males to routinely masterbate once they hit puberty.

Most divorcing men do not have to face the level of challenge you are describing (of which you have my sympathy). I appreciate you are still fighting for your rights and I hope you don’t quit. If all fathers acted as passionately as you, we wouldn’t have a much an issue with absent fathers. Nobody else is going to flight for our rights.

I’m all for parental equality, but, here is an inconvenient fact - about 80% of all divorcing fathers do not attempt to seek out shared custody. We have plenty of self-work to do on our end too.

On the one hand, morally, I cannot support abortion. On the other - it takes a real man to raise kids. Absent fathers are losers. I think mandatory shared custody and a tightening of elective abortions is proper.

I laugh from afar about the media Americans have, but June 19th is an exclusively American thing. If you want to change Father’s Day for it, go right ahead, but that would be just for the yanks.

I was you. I imagine you do a disproportionate amount of chores around the house too, to compensate for shortcomings of your parents. Adulthood, you will find you are on your own, but you’ve been like that your whole life, so you will excel when you finally become independent. One key word of advice, when you become the parent, don’t be like your mom. Try to find a solid partner and work together as best you can. Kids truly need a mom and dad. Good luck amigo.

Yeah, it happens. That’s the nature of Reddit on so many subs. Take it with a grain of salt - just means they aren’t open to differing opinions, and are only happy in a minority echo chamber. Best to forget and move along.

Cut through the crap and simply get rid of the gendered leagues. True equality, the best should play against the best.
/r/MensRights19/05/22 11:11 AM

Oh no, of course not. Remember, I am using the same logic here - so, women get periods - while some do have a tougher time with it, the argument is, all women need time off, because, periods. Therefore; men, on average, die much sooner than women. While some do take larger risks and have a tougher time with it, my argument is, all men need to retire five years earlier, because, life span.
/r/MensRights17/05/22 12:29 AM
30

Perhaps, you are right - give women time-off for periods, because they get periods and it’s challenging. That logic, since men die five years sooner then women on average, I propose we allow men to retire five years earlier than women. After all, they clearly face health challenges at an earlier stage as they get older, and currently do not get to share the same amount of time retired comparatively. Surely, you agree that is fair. You get periods, we die a lot sooner.
/r/MensRights16/05/22 10:25 PM
26

Again, we all have varying degrees of health concerns, so making sick or personal days equally for everyone makes all the sense. My wife had endometriosis, happily the surgery and later, having a baby really improved her condition. I’m impressed she champed up and usually made it in to work. She thinks automatic time-off for periods is laughable and patronizing to women. I defer to her position.
/r/MensRights16/05/22 09:04 PM
27

No, I don’t buy your hypothesis. Starters, periods are not a sickness (thanks for making my wife smile on that one), second, perhaps we are playing semantics. Sick leave, personal leave, what have you, needs to be equally allocated as we all have varying degrees of health concerns.

Nice to know I’m in good company. At first, I was stunned by bannings, when I felt all I was doing was raising reasonable alternate points (respectfully). Took me a bit, but I’m starting to learn that this is the place that must have invented the term echo chamber.
/r/MensRights16/05/22 05:32 PM

Yeah that’s the price of Reddit. Some subs, you learn the hard way that there is no guarantee of consequence or free speech. When I get banned from them, I just shrug and move on - just accept they are echo chambers

As a bald dude (who, in general, does not mind being bald), I get a bit irked when casual acquaintances feel free to have a light laugh over my lack of hair. No, far from it! Doctors waited until both my kids were over two years old, and even at 37 years old at the time - they were very reluctant and said I was still a bit too young, but since I had been married long enough and my wife was advocating for it as well, they proceeded.

My wife complained I don’t do enough around the house. I pointed out she cut down to 24 hours a week when we had our first kid, and I still do 50. When I then continued to factor the hours I put in at home as well compared to her, she chilled out when she realized I still put about 10 hours more work than her. Funny how people can’t see beyond their nose occasionally.
