Hillary has done more to help women globally than almost any other prominent US politician
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy09/08/21 02:55 AM

She hasn't. Hillary has consistently stood up for the rights of women and girls throughout her entire career. She has been an ardent feminist from the start. But because her husband cheated on her with an intern she is seen as some sort of villain. I'm honestly sick of defending Hillary constantly in leftwing spaces to zoomers who have uncritically hated her without ever taking the time to learn about her. She defiantly kept her last name and defended the choice to a misogynistic male interviewe…

What an important reframing of the "society goes south when women abandon men" talking point. Feminism is about the liberation and well-being of women as a class, I fundamentally do not care that men can't get their shit together without us.

American society basically medicalized women being upset at their own subjugation in the 50s. Those housewives got the Good Stuff

Her being afraid to go out to eat in case the waitress is attractive is exactly what he wants. He wants her to be insecure and compare herself to other women. She needs to either leave him or emotionally distance herself from him enough that she doesn't give a shit who or what he finds attractive. Otherwise she is going to be miserable.

For what it's worth, I've only ever seen respect for FDS in GC spaces. As a radfem I love that this space exists and tells women it's okay to have boundaries and not accept degradation in dating just because they are female. I might not agree 100% with everything here but there is no doubt that this is a positive space for women, much better than any other mainstream "feminist" space, including the "feminist" subs on reddit. I think it's totally reasonable to want to clarify the sub's purpose as…

Honestly my dating life is fine. I guess my broader point is I'm among the group of women who hang out here more for the "female" part than the "dating" part.

I've had (admittedly maladaptive) fantasies of some of the more egregious assholes I've worked with having to live life as a woman for one fucking day. They have no idea how much they are coddled by other men and the women around them. Anything less than women walking on eggshells and gassing them up they read as an offense.

Hypocrisy like this used to make me so angry. How can men be so vile and hateful yet expect women to handle them with kid gloves all the time? Now it just cracks me up. South Korean feminists are the real deal.

The silver lining of the internet is that women can't live in copeland any more about the reality of male nature. There are good men out there but they benefit from ignoring all the depraved shit that men do on a daily basis and being "one of the good ones".

We aren't sending graphic photos of a murdered woman to her bereaved mother talking about how we sexually got off to it. (Bianca Devins) Men have a capacity for depravity that women just don't have, and they've managed to convince the world that they are actually the superior sex.

Great comment. Women just don't things like this. I remember seeing a subreddit devoted to doxxing girls in a specific type of porn that preyed on college girls hard up for cash (the producer was actually convicted and fleed the country, it turns out many of these women were raped). These men worked together, tirelessly, for free, just to dox these victimized women and ruin their lives. For no reason. They compiled lists, photos, shared personal facebooks, created fake personas, and coordinated …

I loved how they pushed back against the "misunderstood genius, damaged male criminal" trope. She gives this big speech basically saying, "Your twisted philosophical justifications for your crimes aren't high minded or genius, it's just plain old misogyny." I feel like the media gives too much credence to men with "troubled pasts" who write manifestos and commit crimes against women. When the reality is it's not that deep; they just hate women.

That's what I used to do. In my early 20s men used to ask me this all the time. I would say anything from 35-48. And then try to guess their age.

Ovarit doesn't have the resources to verify that all posters are female, and it would not be an advantageous way to grow a fledgling community. There's already a barrier for entry for posting. Just some context for people reading the above comment.

I know I'm late but I totally agree. "Women have power because men want to help them" is not a good message. That's libfem "empowerment". True empowerment is when your happiness, safety, and wellbeing are not dependent on a man. She was basically just reiterating the "wOmEn hAvE pOwEr tHroUgH tHeIr sExUalItY" idea, which is not true power at all. Patriarchy is built on "good" men protecting women from "bad" men. Sad to see that ecosystem being praised here.

Yeah I like IASIP but man does that paint Rob Mcelhenney in a different light. The original Dee broke up with him and despite all of them saying "it's all or nothing" he replaced her with Olsen (and then married her). This woman helped create and film the pilot but because she broke up with him she was tossed out without a thought

Even the lowest, most disadvantaged man could count on women being beneath him up until about 20 years ago. Now a powerless man has to confront his powerlessness instead of gaining power in the form of socially sanctioned domination over a woman.

I might be cynical, but I don't think this is something you can educate away. Men who would be receptive to it would never need it, and those who would need it wouldn't care. It takes a certain type of man to rape someone, you're not going to talk him out of it by appealing to his humanity. I do see the value in educating women on this.

Exactly. And am I supposed to believe that June's character could realistically pin down a man who has at least 50 pounds on her?

It might seem lame, but every time I get overwhelmed and fed up (I'm in a highly male dominated industry), I think of the women before me who endured much more overt and unapologetic misogyny and didn't let it stop them. If they can handle it so can we. Having beliefs and the conviction to stand by them isn't always easy. (I loved both your makeup post and this one)

Libfems are caught up in the fantasy that you can just explain to misogynistic men why they're wrong and eventually they'll get it. You can't talk a man out of misogynistic attitudes. You can't appeal to their humanity because they don't see you as human. Libfems need to stop living in copeland and live in reality. Stop trying to convince men that women are humans and instead focus on the liberation of women as a class.

It might seem like a small thing to people reading but it's the fact that men just don't seem to ever think about how their actions affect others, and women do. It's frustrating because men just expect you to live your life around their whims. Women are so much more considerate, thinking about how our decisions affect others (especially in a family!) is basically second nature.

I actually came across one of these over the summer, a group of men were sitting at the outdoor table next to me at a Panera Bread. They were a men's group that seemed really impressive, truth be told. Lots of emotional support, they read and discussed a passage on being a better husband and father, talked about their struggles. They were young guys too. (maybe late 20s, early 30s) It was definitely a religious thing (there were Bibles around), but still really refreshing to see.

they know that women breaking glass ceilings and rising in the economy threatens their male privileg Exactly. It's gotten to the point where the concept of breaking the glass ceiling is met with derision. These men downplay the importance of progress for women. Not all that much different than right-wing men who are only comfortable with women as nurses, teachers, or housewives.

Men think women should stay in the home until the socialist utopia arrives. Aka indefinitely. They also judge women much more harshly for participating in capitalism than they do men. "Girlboss" is bullshit. It's a way to denigrate women with ambition and women who seek positions of power. It's the left-wing way of men saying women should stay in their place.
