He probably meant that he is not a good model in the current civilizational context. Also, apex fallacy.

If anything, that anecdote was a good counter-example of the initial OP message. He had features that can't be managed or changed (like height), and it may have opened the door to him going on a more desirable path in life. The original message stated how messy it is that men are expected to be better at many things before trying to get a girlfriend.

That's not how socialism works.

Where is the essay? Does it have a title? Is there a section for such writings in Reddit?

Because the vast majority of women (I don't have stats for this, but it's certainly over 95%) prefer a man equal or taller than they are, at 5'6", in the USA, you start at around 60%. In other words, before doing anything, about 40% of women are already inaccessible as a partner.

I think we should have sexes separated in classes, but mixed for free time, like recess, lunch, extracurricular, etc. What do you think? Also, we could apply rules to how male teachers and female teachers are assigned to students. Let's say, ideally, we want to have male teachers assigned to boys, but there is a lack of male teachers, which is statistically true right now, especially in elementary school. So to compensate as much as we can, we assign the students with more difficulty to teachers…

Autonomy of what? Of what to do with your body? Of walking anywhere in the streets? Please explain.

The expression "women are wonderful" is, well, an expression. It shouldn't be taken as a first degree phrase. It's a shortcut that refers to the tendency to prioritize female survival and wellness because females produce babies. It's a "caveman" instinct. That's why a woman's cry for help attracts more attention, especially from men. It doesn't mean all women are wonderful (it's a subjective word, anyway), and it doesn't mean all women are despicable. It doesn't mean women should have the benefi…

Getting a partner is not something that you simply "do", like choosing your favorite ice cream at the grocery store.

The Reddit is called Purple Pill Debate . It's a place to discuss and debate. Anyone can provide insight, regardless of their marital status.

There are certainly several good arguments that be used against that kind of study and the data used, specific bias, etc. However, it's the most comprehensible data set that we have so far. As far as I know, no better study exists on that subject. At least, not with such a large sample size. So, until someone produces a comparably large study on the subject, using what we think is a better data set, we use this one. Swiping the study aside without good reason is not fair.

In this day and age, no, accidents don't happen. Procreation can be prevented in many ways, at different stages of the process. There is no "excuse" anymore, you can't "accidentally" have a baby. You can accidentally step on someone's foot, stumble on a tree root, but having a baby is not something you can do by "accident". It's a deliberate act that lasts months.

Wait, if a man doesn't want to be a father, then don't make babies in the first place?

One of the effects of capitalism on labour is that when you have more people available for same jobs, the wages go down. Having women enter the workforce makes wages go down, and it favors only the capitalist minority class. In correctly applied socialism, having more people chasing more jobs would make everyone work less hours for the same production.

For me, the current suggestion is about education and cultural changes. Have more people accept the idea that you can't have a perfect partner, and train people into looking for a solid base. Make people's mental list go down from 417 bullet points to, say, the most important 5 or 10. Other details should not matter that much and it's those things that you learn to endure. That's a crucial part of building civlization.

The finality and take-home point is that women do earn less than men (statistically), but they spend more than men, so they still win from a consumer's point of view.

The usual argument is that it will incite people (especially women) to be more careful about what kind of relationship they want, when and why they want children, and whether they will endure the hardships of raising a child to adulthood.

Thanks for this clarification. I've heard stories of men paying alimony, and many times, they forego the revision of their payment because "it's not worth it" when the revenue of both parties have not significantly changed. Again, it's not US, it's Canada, and there may be differences between states/provinces that I'm not aware.

Sure, there are contradictions and incoherences in the current economics system (capitalism for short, but in the US it's mostly taboo to criticize it), and there's also nothing that guarantees, in any system, that there'd be at any given time the exact number of jobs for the entire population of working age. But this is not a "A or B" situation. Both problems can (and do) coexist. Even if women had access to well-paying jobs, taking care of young children is time-consuming. Children need securi…

The law still favors the woman as a child caretaker in very high proportion, especially if the child is very young. Maybe it's because most judges are from an older generation, I don't know. As for welfare, I'm sure no one wants to be on welfare, but it makes single parenthood reasonably possible, as opposed to being condemned to homeless life. I don't know all the details about US law on that matter, but I've seen cases where the woman divorces, takes the kids, gets alimony from ex, but then, f…
