I would say that I feel loved when receiving things, that is how I told my boyfriend, I then went on to give him examples and since then he does, tell him it’s about the intention, thought. Not about the price tag!

If you want to leave your choice is valid. If you want to work on it together, couples therapy, counseling.

He sounds like he has special needs possibly, not wanting to generalize but has your husband looked into autism? Hygiene issues and the other social aspects you have named can stem from something more complex

Stop trying to control when. Either wait or leave if you aren’t happy :)

You’re playing games, playing mind games doesn’t work, or I mean it will but will create a dynamic of games, Being feminine doesn’t mean being passive, He must be tired of always having to text first, Or maybe he’s busy, Or maybe he isn’t interested anymore, who knows? Ask him instead of asking us

You don’t need to deal with his disappointment, it’s not yours. You made the right for you, to prioritize yourself and that is just the reality of things He is going to be disappointed but hopefully will understand, And that is part of life

He is using you as a place holder, He is telling you how you make him feel, accept that and move on, From your post you have been trying and you have been working on yourself, I feel like you are clinging on too much and trying too hard, Choose simplicity and ease, I wouldn’t want to try to be with someone who tells me I drain and annoy them, It would make ME feel like shit, and thats not what my partner is there for, Respect yourself

Because we like to demonize men in general. Self reflection is apparently hard for women so it’s easier to shame men and be in denial that we actually may be at fault and that * surprise * we’re not perfect.

I think life isn’t so black and white and the situation either. He is extremely capable of taking position in his life and relationships, but yes he leans more towards the passive side and yes he is conflict avoidant. He is capable of having hard conversations. I don’t want to be blind but I also don’t feel ready to end this yet because I have seen improvement and receptivity in the past weeks.

Yeah he’s fixing his financial situation right now as we speak! I only work for money too so I don’t understand him. And that’s what I’m telling myself, he’s 49..his patterns and ways of being are deeply rooted. If I focus on what he does do, I can really appreciate him, I think i have to come to terms with the fact that if I am his partner, I can’t expect him to someone he isn’t, which would lead to more resentment

He could be retired because of his job he has retirement. He served the federal penitentiary for the years required so he could stop and get retirement if he wanted to. The money wouldn’t change, As for the gift thing, I was a sugar baby for 4 years so yes my love can be bought, I’m unpacking that trauma and baggage. As for the planning thing, I have expressed it, very clearly, hence why there is conflit The dislikes we’re more so about the needs of wanting more pro activity about doing things w…

I know it’s from his past relationship, she was really impulsive and he was walking on eggshells all the time. He was conditioned to shut the fuck up. And yes pain avoidance too. How can I encourage him to take up more space? How can I show him it’s safe?

What do you mean some of that is from the previous relationship? And he doesn’t give child support. They are on good terms, they pay half of everything for their daughter
