My marriage is no longer viable, but divorce will ruin me financially. Am I trapped? The one thing I think about is the portion where you are unsure what the outcome would be... which is the therapy. Does it hurt to try? What if it did create some change between the both of you in ways you just can't comprehend yet? You were able to calculate everything else pretty well, but this is the one area you "don't see" helping. If you were to give it an attempt, wouldn't it be better than never trying at all? | /r/Divorce_Men | 14/08/24 05:23 AM
My ex mother in law called me 5 years laterTo be honest... I miss my ex mother in law (I used to call her Boss Lady). I swear she loved me more than her daughter did lol. We spent a lot of time together and had a really close relationship (not sexual or anything) and I will always appreciate what she did for me in the past. Once my ex and I were separated, that's when the mother in law disappeared and ran back to her daughter. The reason why it hurt so much is because my ex didn't care to talk with her mom or be around her until I came i… | /r/Divorce_Men | 28/07/24 05:02 AM
First GF after divorceHey man! That's why it's so important to get yourself healed up before you get into another relationship. You weren't ready and now because your girlfriend does things that your ex did, it doesn't mean they are the same people. If you were healed up mentally, you would have recognized that. You should avoid any form of relationships until you get your mind together. The issue you had with your ex is what women normally do lol. If you don't mind responding, but what was the last book you read? | /r/Divorce_Men | 25/07/24 03:08 AM
What songs helped you ?FOR REAL. Hits alllll kinds of different, huh!? Back then I didn't know I was really going through stuff even though I had problems in my life, but after a divorce or separation... definitely opens your eyes and ears much more. | /r/Divorce_Men | 25/07/24 02:49 AM
What songs helped you ?That's dope, man! No matter what... we stay connected to the source because He knows what He's doing even when it looks a hot mess! A song that I listened to a lot was "The Voice of Truth" by Casting Crowns. Made me cry almost every time because it's soooo powerful and encouraging! | /r/Divorce_Men | 25/07/24 02:24 AM
Update on my exgf kicking me outAsking to be apart of your child's life isn't her choice. It's yours! You should NEVER ask for permission to see your child, it's a DEMAND. She can be petty and whatever else she wants to be, but if you want your child, you're gonna have to put up a serious fight. The enemy is constantly at war against you through your heart and mind, but you can win. If you get into your Word and allow God to lead your life, there's nothing she will be able to do to stand against Him. Keep fighting the good fig… | /r/Divorce_Men | 25/07/24 02:18 AM
Update on my exgf kicking me outMy man... I'm glad to hear you're getting back in order again... but, you still have an uphill battle. You said you would just focus on your 2 year old son alongside yourself, but you still have a child out there that will need his father. She might want to keep you separate from him, but you shouldn't want that for yourself. You went through a divorce, got with your rebound woman who's almost 10 years older than you, had a kid with her, and now she's kicking you out because you're emotionally u… | /r/Divorce_Men | 25/07/24 01:35 AM
Divorce Almost FinalYour relationship with your kids isn't over! They are still teenagers who don't understand every component to a marriage, separation, or a divorce. As they get older... they'll begin to piece together everything you've done for them and remember your involvement in their lives. I'm sure it doesn't make it any easier on you knowing you're in the U.S. and they are still in Australia. Have you ever considered going back to Australia if it's that important to you? | /r/Divorce_Men | 25/07/24 01:25 AM
I was naive, I was stupid. If your office didn't make the change prior to the recent payday AND you gave your office notice of the change well beforehand, then I can't see how a judge would view this against you. If the judge knows you both have created your own separate checking accounts and your stbx decided to take that money and do what she wanted to with it... it wouldn't look good against her at all. Plus... you provided more than enough for her to take care of the things she needs to, so you have evidence of trying… | /r/Divorce_Men | 25/07/24 01:18 AM
Does anyone else note thoughts/feelings?I tend to do video journaling daily. I will record myself on camera for about 5 minutes each day to talk about my day, what I dealt with, my happiness and frustrations... anything that I can recall that made my day what it was. That way... I'm able to see what I looked like back then to give a visual story aside from just the words. It helped me more because I could always see where I was mentally during those times. Any lies I was telling myself, or any moments that were really raw. I think wha… | /r/Divorce_Men | 24/07/24 11:36 PM
Talk Me Out Of It BoysMy guy... Don't do it. She knows the game she's playing and she knows your heart is being tugged on. If you allow yourself to go back, she will get exactly what she wants and continue to drag you through the streets with your own car! Manipulation is soooo real, and it's unfortunate that people use it to gain some type of advantage over another person. Don't let her tactics cause you to fall back when you are just getting to the place to stand on your own two feet after all that hard work! "I de… | /r/Divorce_Men | 24/07/24 11:32 PM
Update on divorceSo much work, but worth every penny and all the time to ensure that the kids are taken care of. Handle ya business, pops! | /r/Divorce_Men | 24/07/24 07:17 AM
I'm about to get destroyedBro... I'm sorry to hear about what's going on. Once they know the marriage is over mentally, everything else starts to go as well. Her mind is in such a dark state where all she can think about is dealing with her anger in the most destructive way. All of the "new" friends don't care about her aside from what they can get/take from her. It's unfortunate to hear because the last thing you want is for the relationship to end in general, but definitely not like this. If there's anything I can do, … | /r/Divorce_Men | 24/07/24 06:37 AM
Adding new s/o to the will?Hey! How many years have you been dating your girlfriend? Also... how old are your kids? I'd personally be upset if I was one of your kids knowing that the woman you've been talking to for a short amount of time receives an inheritance greater than me. How is she deserving of it when she hasn't really proven much? If you were married to her for a while and the kids knew her really well, I could understand why you would leave it to her, but with that not being the case, I would say it wouldn't be… | /r/Divorce_Men | 24/07/24 05:44 AM
What songs helped you ?The only songs that helped me to get through it were gospel songs. I grew up in the church and the only way I was able to find relief was when I put my focus on God instead of focusing on my problems. I cut out all the secular music (Rap, RnB, etc.,) and that's when things started to change for me. There definitely were songs I couldn't listen to, but the main one was "She Wildin" by Fabolous Ft. Chris Brown. Anytime I heard it, I IMMEDIATELY had to shut it off. It was a High-Level Trigger for a… | /r/Divorce_Men | 22/07/24 08:44 PM
Lonely, depressed but scared to give up on our kidsDo you believe that there is a chance at reconciliation at all? Unfortunately kids come into the picture and they change so much about the marriage, but it doesn't have to remain that way. I can understand the aspects of sex too. That will have to be more planned out if you did decide to work on the marriage. It really sucks to even think like this, but I've been there and it was really hard for a while. It's sad to hear that you guys are both great parents and probably were really close back th… | /r/Divorce_Men | 22/07/24 04:21 AM
Turning a corner.Most definitely. If I can be of any assistance, I'm here to help! | /r/Divorce_Men | 22/07/24 03:40 AM
Turning a corner. You are 100% right! Playing the husband to the ex is one of the worst things you can do. I dealt with a very messy divorce, but before that came to pass, I was doing everything I could to try and make it work through my "changes" while we were separated. None of it mattered because she had already committed to a new person mentally and physically, so whatever I tried was a waste of time (old love vs new lust). Once I learned how to put myself first, read some books on healing/recovery, and reall… | /r/Divorce_Men | 20/07/24 09:21 PM
