Soon after our first son was born, we switched from husband and wife to father and mother roles...and unfortunately that eventually doomed our marriage. It was slow and unnoticed at first but we both stopped being intimate (too tired, sleep deprived, etc). As the kids got older, she used other excuses to be avoidant and so did I. I didn't think PTSD was possible but when you are in an absolutely toxic, destructive marriage for so long, you will have wounds to contend with (some heal quickly, others take longer). I've been divorced for 7 years and I am stuck paying my blood-sucking ex-wife alimony for the rest of her life (unless she dies or re-marries, both which are not happening anytime soon).
