You're too kind to people who have no desire to engage with what you're saying, and in fact actively despise you. For what it's worth - I had a similar experience to yours with a girl I fell for long ago. As you said, a lot of men do.

This is nonsense. If you are actually a man, I'd really take a close look at the guys that you're associating with, because this isn't normal.

I'm a man, and I love dogs. My wife also loves dogs. We have 2, and we foster rescues in addition until they get adopted. I know of at least three other men that I work with that also love dogs. This isn't a gendered thing, it's a preferences thing.

You are. Dollars to donuts you are a misandrist by any reasonable standard.

What you misread... is that I didn't call it abuse. I was describing how this would have been framed had the genders been reversed. Arguing with me over whether or not the described scenario is abuse is irrelevant, I didn't make a statement on that one way or another. I was pretty clear about this so you either didn't read what I wrote, or you are, again, trying to start an argument for... some reason. This is pretty damn far from something worth arguing about this late at night, so I'm gonna de…

Think you might have misread my comment. That, or you're just spoiling for a fight for some reason.

They would not, because even before that information was revealed, this was still a description of the breadwinner of the household using their position of financial power to dictate their partner's choice in health care. Were that breadwinner a man, this would be considered financial abuse. It would be emphasized that the wife most likely performs labor in the home - UNPAID labor - and this was typical controlling, misogynist behavior, meant to emphasize the wife's subordinate role. Immediate c…

Sure, but the masses of women in that thread backing the OP of that post would NOT say the same thing, were the genders reversed. That's the point.

Not all women are like this. I saw your other comment that by "modern women" you mean the kind of left-of-center vaguely woke feminist types that you see so much on Reddit, universities, media, etc... but then what, the masses of normal American women that AREN'T like this just get discounted? In the real world, and outside of college campuses and dense urban environments, you can find plenty of women that would call this shit insane.

I mean I explicitly said meltdowns, not being "emotionally expressive". We're just talking about our own anecdotal experiences here so there's really not much argument to be had. But your experiences are hardly universal. When it comes to inter-gender violence for example, I've ONLY seen women beat on men. I've seen more violence from men in general, but only between men. When it comes to violence between men and women, I've only seen women beating on men. I've been on the receiving end myself m…

I mean if we're going off of anecdotal examples, the stereotype of the hysterical woman didn't just emerge out of the ether. I've personally seen women, including my wife, have emotional meltdowns quite a bit more often than men. In the case of my wife, our marriage probably just wouldn't work if I reacted to things the way she did.

I would probably choose to be raped, genuinely, than have my peers and potentially my family believe, or at least suspect, that I raped somebody. Having your name and reputation sullied specifically like that is a nightmare scenario. It's just shy of being falsely called a pedophile. And just like that, even if you get vindicated, it doesn't completely matter, because the accusation never truly goes away. Any employer looking into it will find out about it, your peers and neighbors might or migh…

And I knew a guy who got falsely accused of rape, and got drummed out of the Navy for it. The lying piece of shit who later admitted that she lied got no real consequences for it, and the guy I knew remained out of the Navy, with his reputation and relations still in tatters, because while word of the accusation sure spread like wildfire, somehow, the word that the accusation was bullshit didn't.

Well, the guy did mention innate ability. Dumb people exist, people that aren't dumb but are just not really all that bright exist, and anyone who thinks otherwise hasn't had to work with them. Call me ableist, whatever, I don't care; It's just true. Your girlfriend isn't dumb. Had she been, she would not have been capable of having gotten a good enough score on her MCAT to ever get into med school. And while the hard work she put into her studies and extra-curriculars and med school application…

Fear of being isolated and condemned within her own community. Hence the bit about 1000 comments condemning her.

TRP really just talks about what's ACTUALLY attractive to women, which yes, is obviously important to men for selfish purposes. But the more happy marriages a society has, the more well-functioning the society is, for a whole host of reasons. And maintaining sexual attraction from your wife is absolutely critical to a good marriage. Self-interest isn't inherently harmful to society.

Seconded. And I've worked in some pretty testosterone-fueled environments. The worst I've seen is basically heavy teasing - getting "fucked with", "busting your balls", shit like that - to more or less ascertain that you're not a pussy that's going to whine and cry about it at the drop of a hat, and potentially ruin the group dynamic and working environment. But even then it wasn't hostility. Joking back and returning fire in the same spirit was encouraged and pretty much how you passed the "tes…

I lived in an Arab country for several years. My wife was with me for a portion of my time there. I can tell you she saw more outright sexual harassment and menacing there than anywhere else on this planet, bar none. Take from that what you will. I think, personally, that their culture emphasizes that men have no control over their sex drive to such an extent, that they themselves feel blameless in their behavior.

Met my wife on it. Granted, yeah, I wasn't on there with the intention of finding a wife. But it happens. I honestly view Tinder more as a generic app to meet the opposite sex. That is going to level out to hookups because we all want to screw, and Tinder is most popular among the younger demographics. But I'd say most long term relationships in general evolve from hookups. This isn't the 50s.

Think I said that it takes a lack of social experience to think that men and women are the same and talk the same, hoss. Nothing about "treating them like other humans". Give you an example. I've worked in teams composed almost entirely of men, and teams that were maybe 1 third women. Now with men, I can talk much more to the point, much more directly, without worrying so much about my tone or whether I seem to be speaking "too aggressively". With women, this is not the case. If I don't carefull…

Frankly, I think it would take a lack of social experience to believe what you just said. It doesn't take a lot of experience with people to see that men and women are generally very different, and in predictable ways that span different cultures. Sure, not so much that it's like we're different species, that's pretty hyperbolic. But certainly pretty different, and beyond simply "everybody's got different brain builds".

What an obnoxiously douchey thing to say my God lol. You fucking lefties, I swear. You're clearly in a position of pain and the guy gave you an example of his schedule so that you can see how he balances self-improvement and things that make him happy with his work. Since you keep saying that your material conditions make any kind of self-improvement or happiness impossible. But the reality, as you keep illustrating here, is that it's your garbage mentality that keeps you in the weeds. Typical f…
