I remember living without a washing machine for some time after my parent divorced. My father and i would do our own laundry, with me having an extra duty of washing towels and other such common use items, as well as doing father's laundry in an event that he couldn't (lack of time or generally being tired as shit from his rather stressful work), none complained. After some months, a washing machine was purchased.

It is very odd, i think, that while men on the same continent historically couldn't agree as to who should rule, what the law should be, what god to worship, what language to speak etc.,they for some bloody reason came to the same unilateral conclusion regarding the general status of women, regardless of the part of the world and historical period, and kept it like that for tens of thousands of years.
