It's a great and uplifting mindset, not just in this context but all. A positive worldview influences so much. Swell post, OP, and thanks!

Chica, cut your losses. I'm sorry to say it, because I know it's tough to hear, especially when you put in three years – a lot of time at that age! – and crossed big milestones, took big trips and experiences with him. But this isn't something I see working. A few points: 3 months ago, he lied to me, which affected my trust towards him and I had a hard time completely forgiving him. Lying is bad, especially about other women being around. What's awkward about being truthful to your SO? On top of…

I get what you're feeling. I work 9-5, have a half-hour commute to and from work, and work Monday to Friday, but my husband works three 12-hour shifts. So, he's able to have full days off, have kind of more free time, go on day trips, etc. First, recognize it for what it is: despite what you say, it is jealous. You want what he has. That's jealousy/envy. And it has to get nipped in the bud. You're already going about it in an unhealthy way, stacking household chores onto him and making him not w…

I would say that is true, but you also tend to have your first love younger. My spouse is someone who brings peace and stability, but he still excites me, and I can share intense emotions with him, whether we feel them together or it's one of us sharing it with the other – everything from passion between spouses to the intense pain of grieving a family member. It allows for a wider range of action and emotion and I feel very free to be myself, just as I am, with all my highs and lows. We behaved…

I stay with my day's outfit and makeup on and I have the home clean; there's dinner ready or soon to be ready if he's hungry (he will phone me and let me know, whether he wants dinner or not – he normally prefers just a large lunch). When we first married, I always had a candle lit, new lipstick applied, music playing – he told me it's not necessary. I guess it had the image of trying too hard and something too perfect, as in, uncomfortable; it can't be touched without messing it up, like an exh…

They say they best thing a man can tell a woman is "I've got this" – I think that's true. Taking care of issues and problems; competency, as it were – as well as, just, I guess, caring and looking out for her and the family is an action of love. It insulates from hardship, demonstrates can-do and leadership and dependability, and it shows work! I think the attitude of "I need to be dominant so a woman will submit to me" does need a small shift though. Yes, it's a lifestyle and flow many want, bu…

My pleasure – sorry it was a little discombobulated; I had a lot of thoughts at once. One thing to add, though, since it just crossed my mind – and it’s a thought I share myself – about the loss of self. Thinking about my own parents, they love Led Zeppelin and enjoyed parties and social gatherings. My parents designed our house after the local House of Blues, my mom never gave up her band tees, and they even gifted each other paintings of their favorite members of the band. They weren’t afraid …

I’m 26 and a fencesitter, so I’ve settled on just one in a few years. I realized it a lot because of my husband, but I’ve gone from wanting none to three. It was also because of events like becoming a godmother and attending baptisms, but also the way I can’t help but smile at babies when I see them and wave. Or how sometimes I just feel like something is missing. I have this urge to hold and look after something, and to care for it; I guess I can best explain it, this way: I was tying a my husb…

My husband and I have a similar age gap and experience. I was in school in the spring, and he was working – there was a bit jealousy, too, I think, especially because he works in a very demanding field and with ill people. But, what I told him, calmly and respectfully, was that I am in school and that is my job right now. You are ten years behind. This is your time in life to be learning, he had his. It doesn't mean he can't be a little envious – everyone wants to go back to that school time bec…

Not to mention, his job is probably zapping his energy, so he would pour from an empty cup. To refill the "health bar," well – get him help! – but also just be a calm, supportive presence for him to lean on and confide in. He might feel ashamed about this, seeing it as an inability to be an adequate provider and to perform. There may be a little bit of jealousy since you're not working. So I would advise too picking something up if possible, or doing a little extra... it'll help your mindset, to…

Communication. I know it's overstated, but, having been married since seven months now, I cannot say it enough. Communicate everything – in fact, overcommunicate when it comes to tough topics, your feelings, and your needs; your spouse(-to-be) is not a mind reader. Learn to communicate these things, calmly, with love and grace – especially if having a disagreement, you do not want to raise your voice or react to his anger! – as well as with the idea that you may not get what you want and will ha…

Hm, gee. Are you going into it genuinely excited to the men in question? Or just hoping and praying it develops? You can't force it... would practice cutting your losses as soon as you know, too. It's fair to you and him. You seem to me like you're putting unfair pressure on yourself to make a match, which is probably hurting things

I was like this. (I can't say for age, since I got married with 25), but I was never very "into" guys or dating and have never been that physically attracted to men, as in, finding them hot or something. I would say almost every man is good-looking in some way, though. I think it comes, at least for me, mostly from emotional attraction; physical grows from there. Rarely has it been the opposite, and, even then, it's been for, like, two celebrity crushes and my husband, where looks have been that…

My husband does it often enough, but he says he’ll “let” me do something — for example he “lets” me pump the gas if he has to run inside the store for something. But it’s always simple and kind, quick gestures and nothing unladylike. I think you’re all good here The hitchhiker thing does give me pause, though. It’s a direct link to your safety — and that was not safe, no matter how sound his judgment could’ve been! (We should give our men the benefit of the doubt, but there’s a line between that…

It's weird phrasing, but I think, what he was getting that, was that he was playfully wording that you "get" to take his role for a bit. Like he's "letting" you do it because he enjoys to do it himself. But your first paragraph... what else does he say?

"If he wanted to, he would" – you're a backup, it sounds like, and he's keeping you at arm's length for purposes of his convenience and at his leisure. Let him chase, but if he doesn't, that's your answer. I'm sorry. He just wants someone to feed his ego

Let go and let him (and let God). He will find a solution for things. Yes, as a lady, you need to be on top of some things, but he wants to and will to care for you and anything that arises. I wouldn't say lean back into leisure entirely, as you ought to cheerlead him and support him and do your fair share in things in your sector of the relationship, but just trust him – it shows immense respect – and if you must second-guess him, do it from a place of kind insight as opposed to doubt

Oh, goodness. I'm so sorry. Big hugs and prayers for you – I hope you're holding up alright, and holding your head high with it; I can feel your heartbreak, and I can only imagine how haunting finding those posts was, in addition to the pain you're already dealing with. Please stop looking at his profile. Block, ignore, and try to put it out of your mind. What for a nightmare. Sometimes, there is nothing we did or can do – it's not a question of "men" but "man", meaning that it is about the indi…

I think, keep doing what you’re doing; the pool is what it is no matter where you go. The best way to both meet and vet people is organically, where the connection can be natural and not as forced. I met my husband on Reddit, which one might assume to be not so promising (and it was by total randomness, neither was on a dating sub or looking to date!), whereas when I wing womaned for a friend at a Church event, the guys I chatted with were difficult to talk to and stiff. My parents met at a bar,…

It could be the shift in mindset he needs, if work has been a stressor. I think, more than (or equal to) timing, it's about the approach. Give it a casual but respectful air, and let the ball be in his court after. But don't give your apology over text or call, it must be in person. You are very welcome, and well done, for taking the initiative.

Do you see him daily? It seems you're living together. Maybe pop in when he is doing something lowkey, it could be a nice surprise – a knock on the office or bedroom door with a genuine apology at the ready, then let him decide what happens next; he may say thanks and ask for alone time, or he could have you come hang out. (That's how it goes for me and my husband, normally he will receive the olive branch and invite me to sit and talk it out, but to each, their own) Just don't do it when he's c…

It's tough to be comed down on by your lady, especially in front of family – not only is it disrespectful, but humiliating. Good on you to take the first step in recognizing and rectifying what you can. I would give him a genuine apology – don't just do it because he's upset with you. Do you feel upset, too, that you hurt him? It wounded his sense of self and security, because you, who is supposed to be his greatest support, tore him down. It hurts viciously. Please recognize that in apologizing…
