It's not as common, nor as severe (normally) - but saying it doesn't happen is simply inaccurate, and helps nobody. Public perception is a whole different animal. Although, I think it's much better than it used to be - particularly among women. When people are emotionally invested, they become agitated when their ideas are questioned . But echo chambers don't solve problems, discussions do.
