Iceland wanted to pass an anti-porn bill as well spearheaded by Anti-porn Marxist-feminist Gail Dines. Fortunately from what I understand there centre-right opposition has won a decisive victory in parliamentary elections and stopped the bill from passing because the population was made well aware of the implications of totalitarian censorship that the bill gave credence too. Icelander here... the fuck are you talking about? This idea never had a chance in the first place. Don't take this out of…

Oh fuck me sideways! I just hope they're having her on as some PR stunt and not giving her any actual authority and then proceed to ignore everything she said and continue on with the games they originally intended to make. Also what's the word in the gaming industry on her whole schtick? Anyone heard some feedback from people that actually do this for a living about her opinions?
/r/MensRights19/07/13 09:41 PM

I think we need to squash this feminism attack on gaming fast, I really don't want there to be any lasting damage due to these hypocritical and ridiculous views. I heard some rumor that they were going to consult Anita Sarkeesian for the new Mirrors Edge game, I haven't confirmed the rumor but it still scared the shit out of me.

Most groups have extremists, but what matters is how and if the moderates try to distance themselves from those extremists, which feminism seem to be lacking in efforts to.

Nowhere is it implied that this behavior would be encouraged, but to show a parallel to the original article with the genders swapped. Anybody who reads this (in context) and thinks that it is promoting animal abuse and rape is very much missing the point.

No, but in the two languages I speak (English and Icelandic) the root of the word becomes very obvious. Our word for 'husband' is 'húsbóndi' and 'hús' means 'house' in our language, the similarities are obvious. I can see where the ignorance comes from with people trying to push out the term 'house-husband.' They think that since people are 'husband and wife' and women can be 'housewives' that means men should also be able to be called 'house-husbands' as some egalitarian compromise, when it is …

http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/husband Origin of HUSBAND Middle English husbonde, from Old English hūsbonda master of a house, from Old Norse hūsbōndi, from hūs house + bōndi householder; akin to Old Norse būa to inhabit; akin to Old English būan to dwell — more at bower First Known Use: 13th century
/r/MensRights17/05/13 01:29 AM

That's redundant. It's just 'husband', the 'hus' part already means house.

Yes, well a lot of jobs have equipment that can easily kill you if not used with care. Not saying it shouldn't be treated with respect but not like this is uncommon.

Ok, so this Jezebel article is trying to make "Big Red" look a little more sympathetic by writing up this propaganda. But what I'm wondering is of all the possible frames of those many youtube videos, they chose this as the best one to accomplish this. Edit: Unless it was a direct link to the video and this is just the thumbnail for it?

Also found this on the same thread Remember this is about a specific article; Robert Baker's "Pricks and Chick: A Plea for Persons". This exam is about knowledge concerning the article's arguments and metaphors, not belief in those arguments and metaphors. Though the fact that they're examining (rather than discussing or exploring) such a stupid article is pretty flabbergasting.

Not debating it but do you have a source for "per distance traveled, men are safer on the road than women." I've always thought that a big part of why men have more accidents is because they are simply driving more on the roads than the women.

I tried searching for an app to record phone conversations once. It seems there are some legal issues with recording a conversation without the other person's consent. I only tried the free apps and the ones I found seemed to try to circumvent the problem by putting the conversation on speaker and recording it that way. Anyway I found searching for an app to record a two way conversation not easy. If you find any app that is useful feel free to let me know.

My views on having a flu is staying at home and taking it easy as I can so I can "get it out of me" ASAP and not infecting others. I've seen people with the flu keep on going to work prolonging their illness for weeks thinking they are hardcore or something while in the meantime infecting others.
