If the witnesses believe the polygraph works, it is pretty telling that they are fighting against taking it. (they are called victims but technically they are witnesses in a trial.) If the judge believes it works, and she might if she ordered it done, then she won't like that the witnesses are so scared of taking it.

Here is another article on the case: https://www.techdirt.com/articles/20150716/00572731657/canadian-court-ponders-if-disagreement-twitter-constitutes-criminal-harassment.shtml

You are right. Although there is a difference in sentencing for violent offenders between the US and others, 86% of prisoners in the US were convicted for non-violent offenses.

This article is confusing. Best I can determine, she spent 38.5 months total in custody (since Jan 2010), with 10 months coming after the trial. This has happened before in the US. I can think of 1 case where the killer spent only 4 years in State Hospital before being paroled. In general though the current US prison system is the outlier, where the per capita prison population is much higher than any other country in the world or any prior time in US history.

Yeah, I hate being forced into conversation at social gatherings. Sometimes you just don't want to talk to that person and can't get away.

That's Lydia Lunch? I've heard her music but never saw her. Joe Rogan comes off as a whiny little kid in this clip. "I don't wanna look in your eyes when you talk, that's dopey dum dum talk!" Here's how a comedian handles someone he doesn't like (warning, bad words) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2PdKpR9qNtg

Yes and I want to elaborate. I have always been a feminist, a strong supporter of feminism, other than 2 major points: pornography and false rape allegations. With porn, I have seen feminist articles that call for banning all porn because it is sexist, a view usually held by religious extremists, not people who care about women's rights. Censorship is never the answer. There is sexism in pop music, we do not call to censor all music. With false rape allegations: many argue for strong punishment …

Libido and other sexual problems occur with men and women. When it does occur, it takes courage to ask people for help. Unfortunately your wife asked ignorant insensitive a-holes. I hope this does not discourage her from finding friends who aren't so twisted.

In the text, she asks for the first drink, then pushes for a second drink. Then the BF comes in and the couple gets the free drinks. It's a standard con and is immoral and likely illegal (IANAL).

Tell her you are sensitive, caring, wealthy, passionate, successful, athletic, family and goal oriented. Then you say 'April Fools!', on your 30th wedding anniversary.

Translation: Prosecutor believes lying to put someone in prison is a good thing and part of his job.

I don't know why you are being downvoted. The author is clearly reacting to a MTV show, which hurts her credibility. Is she also concerned for Beavis' safety as he gets smacked by Butthead? Her personal fear appears to have clouded her objectivity.

A few thoughts: 1. anyone else here wondering how many times received oral or used a condom since the 1st Clinton term? 2. does spermicide come in large containers? (unfamily size) 3. if child support court is biased for child, can the father still sue the maid in civil court? Maybe this is just the wrong venue for the victim to attain restitution and compensation. IANAL but I don't see why the maid and bjmom aren't liable for the monetary damages they caused separately from what was ruled in ch…

So what's the point of sentencing or plea bargaining?

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
