If your divorce isn’t done and you still have to work out what your life if going to look like post separation then you have time to work it all out. You’ll need time to settle in to life changing with kids going back and forth. Then you don’t know what it will be like getting into dating and finding someone again. Sounds like you’re asking the question now but you have a lot of steps in-between before a new child is even realistically a possibility.

Then also ask yourself, what would it mean to add another child in? Giving that child also time along with the ones you have now. Do you have enough in you to be a full time dad to them all like you want?

That matters to how you see yourself taking on another child from birth. If you feel open to what parenting takes from the start all over at a later age then it’s an investment worth your efforts. There are plenty who see it as something they truly value. I’d always just tell people to be 100% sure before they start that road and then change their minds. That little one deserves full investment from both parents.

Agreed. As a fully invested parent we all know it takes a lot to raise our kids. Sleepless nights, long days at work, time you want to invest in the kids as they develop. We’re not getting younger and while I have great memories of those years I want to look forward to also enjoying my time not being hard invested in those younger years. I like enjoying my older and mature kids now.

Remarry, yes. More kids? No. I’m well past wanting to start over and raise kids from birth again. Again, personal preference. I did it twice. Loved it then, but got snipped for that reason because I was honestly good with that going forward.

No doubt there are a sizable contingent that broke away so badly that’s their take. My own separation wasn’t pleasant but I’ve always taken the approach that my kids relationship to me or their mother will be their own to decide (barring any unacceptable treatment of the kids). I am not comfortable around my ex any longer but one loves her still and I wouldn’t come inbetween that relationship. In the end that behavior would reflect poorly on me. For me it’s being the bigger person to treat the k…

I took mine to the mall, told her how much she could spend and let her look around and decide what she wanted to get her mom. It wasn’t about me and my relationship to my ex. My child loves her and I wanted her to have the opportunity to show her mom.

It’s the uncertainty that scares us the most. We don’t have a clear picture of what life will be like when you pull the trigger on a decision this big. I will say my two kids haven’t suffered from this and my divorce wasn’t amicable either. They are very resilient. Depending on their ages it could be harder or easier also if your relationship with them is already established. There’s no easy answer. There’s only advice you can be given to consider what you feel is best for you. The process itsel…

Also you would absolutely want good legal representation to make sure things aren’t swept by you without your understanding.

Separation and divorce are terrifying to consider when your kids are involved. She cannot just take them away from you without proof that you’re a danger to them though in court. Also, depending on the laws of your state you will probably split your assets including retirement. So they’ll look at everything and likely a 50/50 on most things unless you’d come to an agreement. It’s a hard decision to make but if you’re that miserable, therapy doesn’t seem like a workable option, you should conside…

This is the best starting point. Anything she sends she can’t just delete so it could go just as much against her as well. Make sure you keep in tune with your legal counsel and they should steer you properly as you work through this. It sucks she’s so aggressive about it but it’s all documented to use.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
