You Sir, Have the right mentality. Some can enjoy the solitude. For some solitude = Heaven. For others solitude = loneliness and depression. It's all about how you condition your mind and look at life. Like you - I do not miss the family drama one bit. Just do you and enjoy your own company. Yep I get it. It's a dirty tactic. Hopefully you're able to rise above it and put the kids first - i.e. no toxicity, drama, hate in their lives. I get it's hard. As they get older they'll learn people's actions speak louder than words. When I hear somebody badmouth somebody else - to me it speaks volumes about the gossiper. Not the other person. Never badmouth the mom in front of her. Just be there for her when she needs you and let it be known you'll always be there. As far as your own mental wellbeing - Create your own happiness. Don't think of the past or worry about the future. Just concentrate on the present moment. I know it's hard. Positive mindset. Avoid hate, negativity, toxicity and drama. Keep him busy in the present moment. Try to get him to forget about the past and not worry about the future (I know it's hard). There's only the present moment. Time does heel old wounds.
