4	Getting better at storytelling? The sagas I'm talking about are collected in Heimskringla. They are not mythology, rather an attempt to biograph the Norwegian kings in a straight line. It starts with the Yngligesaga, which is an interesting crossover between mythology and the later, more factual sagas. 2	Getting better at storytelling? The Viking sagas (which were oral tradition long before Snorre put them to paper) are pretty much the opposite of what you describe. They chug through the plot with as few adjectives as possible, taking special care to underplay dramatic events. It becomes almost hypnotic after a while. Example: "Then he keeled over and died.
