I love this. The man is shitty, can’t do a thing to change that incontrovertible fact.

I try my damndest not to take it personally. I know for me, I’m insecure about my body and I will interpret a lot of rejection based on that. Maybe it wasn’t your age? I made a post about this back in the day. It also helps me to remember if a guy doesn’t like me than we really have nothing in common. Cuz I’m great. And I’m so loved. But I feel this most in hindsight. Time will help, promise ❤️. And never follow their social media!! Lol

I’m mixed - black and white. White side of the fam can defo be racist so can my white father. Just because they date/marry minorities does not mean they aren’t racist.

It’s so wild the paranoia these men out here will give us! My last man had me thinking I was absolutely revolting for the weirdest fucking inconsequential shit. I found myself smelling me constantly and seeing a doctor who told me he was a “dick” and there was absolutely nothing wrong with me. God I’m so sorry he did this too you. You are so strong for sticking in there.

He is rude af and I don’t like sharing my phone number with men after barely messaging in the app. I don’t want to give men that type of access to me. If I just gave my number out willy nilly, loads of rando men would be bothering me. He sounds disrespectful and damn sure doesn’t care about your comfort or feelings. Go you!

Lmaoo men really expect us out here to supply the whole conversation and be their entertainment. I had a similar experience!

I’ve never F*CKING understood the “it wasn’t my intention” thing! It’s like “Sorry I burnt your house down, I didn’t mean to hurt you, I just wanted to roast some marshmellows to enjoy.” Meanwhile you made that choice knowing exactly WHAT YOU WERE DOING AND THAT IT WOULD HURT ME AND THAT IT WAS WRONG. You knowingly and willfully did it to serve yourself at my expense. WTF?!

I felt the “taking time after a break up.” I’ve been feeling a bit bummed and like I’m missing out on some mythical HVM because I haven’t been dating since my break up in May. He was an LVM and critical of me in many ways. I left him craving validation by everything w/ a d*ck. I noticed this in myself and I cut myself off from dating until I feel am stronger. It’s really good to hear what I’m doing re-affirmed here

So he’s dating the black woman he sent this message to?

This is SO true. My ex would say how he loved how “I challenged him” then pivot to being controlling and upset when I didn’t submit to his every nonsensical whim.

I’ve blocked the man that sparked the most feeling, connection, and excitement from me (initially) in my entire life. It’s hard but I wrote down in my journal all the hurtful things he did to me and I go back to that when I find myself idealizing him. I force myself to remember how disconnected from him I felt when he hurt me. I remember the man I first knew was never real. He was a performance. And when I need more reassurance I voice what he did and how he hurt me to my girlfriends and they re…

Sometimes I wonder how much of my goals, my choices, my hobbies, my personality are predicated on what I believe will make me worthy enough or attractive enough in the eyes of “men”. We are primed to be this way, for our goals and worthiness to always center male attention and validation. It’s not just you, OP, and I am reminding myself always that to hate myself or show myself anything but love in the process of unlearning this crap is to play into the very system that creates it. It’s not you,…

I think the lesson here is to remember to fiercely TRUST OURSELVES. It is immensely difficult to understand the moment to moment details, wins and loses of a toxic/controlling relationship when you are living it. We are primed to question every feeling and opinion we have as women especially if they may inconvenience others. OP knew something was wrong, she felt crazy, and a year later, with hindsight and space, that was only to be 110% confirmed. Emotions aren’t petty distractions, they’re insi…

Be wary of the ones that claim emotional intelligence! My last LVM was a good listener, well educated, had been to therapy and was well-versed in feminist verbage and theory. He turned out awful, but he was smart af and knew the therapy lingo well enough to turn it around on me. They know women are being treated terribly out here and will try and portray themselves as the antithesis of that until the mask falls off and you see the mysoginist underneath.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
