This is so eerily accurate I wonder if you're a man. In a weird way, maybe this is what egalitarian maleness looks like. There's just a large portion that aren't interested in the dating game. They might enjoy sex and having girlfriends from time to time, but when given a choice in a free social-sexual marketplace, they just prefer to remain single and working on more individual projects. I was curious too, so I looked it up. Does this look accurate? 6-8 then? My own of poll of friends showed and average of 10, and a HUGE gap between <8 and >15. Seems like you either got married, or you kept on fuckin.

Exactly. Agrarian, rural, societies that rely on manual labor and farming need more children because that's who tends the farms and works with the parents. In many developing countries, the size of the family dictates the wealth generated. In an urban society the more children is a detriment to family wealth. Each child costs more to raise and educate. The more wealthy a society, the less it relies on manual labor and field work, the lower its birthrate.
