Unlike women though the SMV of men just goes up and up as they get fatter and fatter, right? I mean, I'm sure I read there somewhere... Or.... A man told me that, or something. And since he was a man, it obviously must be true, right? Since we submit to ALL men ALL the time?

I FIND THIS COMMENT VERY OFFENSIVE BECAUSE THE TRADITIONALLY FEMININE NATURE OF GLITTER IS OPPRESSIVE TO ME AND ALSO VERY HARD TO CLEAN OUT OF CARPET!!uho too late I've transformed!

This is a very exciting comment for me. Your position then sounds like exactly what HB and I are dealing with now. Oh good! I'm so glad you found it helpful :) It can be hard. Sometimes it feels like all your friends SOs have nothing to but snuggle with them, a cold beer, and Netflix, but the differences in achievement between a couple with that kind of lifestyle and one with a hard working man become more apparent with each year of age. He doesn't have time to deal with anything that isn't his …

There is nothing that gets my day off to a worse start than carefully plucking around piled up dirty dishes covered in old, gross food while I make my coffee. I used to let the dishes pile up when I was younger and single too. So glad I quit doing that. Now I clean the kitchen before bed basically unless I'm on death's doorstep, lol!

Girl, this was my life for years before we were married! It was the toughest part of his career. In a few ways it was so much better once we were living together and I could just pick up all the slack. Before you're living together though I think it's important not to do too much, actually. Trying to help can quickly cross over from actually being helpful to feeling like mothering/disapproving of how he manages his household. At least it could for my man. So I really worked on finding a few thin…

Lol, that's adorable! I'm totally stealing that line. Although I don't think I would ever want anyone else to feed my family. Is that weird? I feel like cooking for people is my love language.

I definitely agree with the point about clothing! I also think you can help create the Victorian vibe by acting and dressing in your home like you do outside. Don't immediately change into sweats and flop down on the couch when you get home! Comfort is NOT first.

I have been doing the same thing! A few things I've changed lately are decluttering my surfaces so the items I do want to show off really stand out, breaking out the "fancy" dishes that I pretty much never used, and switching out our bedding for something that's very light but still cozy.

Clean up after yourself as you cook a meal. Don't leave everything to after dinner- you won't feel like it then! This is so true. There is nothing worse than having to jump up from the dinner table to scrub a pot.

My mother used to always say that women with short hair who wore button up shirts and businessy pants looked like lesbians and as such would only attract lesbians, does that count? LOL! She had a very feminine aesthetic, and was not shy about pointing out to me when she saw a woman "dressed like a man" or "with a man's hair cut." Weirdly, she had no problem with women being gay, she even had several gay women who lives on our street and would hang out with her who would join in on this talk with…

We do our husband's lunches the same exact way! When I can I try to repurpose the night befores meat a little. Last night we had slow cooked chicken thighs with the skin on. For his lunch the next day I took a thigh and pulled the meat off the bone and put it over lettuce and veggies to make a chicken salad. If we have pork chops or roast turkey sometimes I will make the extra one into a sandwich for him for the next day. It's not necessary at all, but it usually only takes me a minute or two mo…

I don't see the problem with it unless it starts to replace intimacy with your husband, personally. I actually think a lot of women enjoy sex more once they know what turns them on, and a little bit of exploration in private without the pressure of pleasing your man can be helpful with that.

Definitely! I have them all in an agenda, so I can flip back. It's also helpful to see weeks you didn't make as much progress as you would have hoped, because you can try to analyze why after the fact!

It was a great reminder for me how much you need to define things beyond simple labels like "abuse", "spying" etc. Things Camille thought I might consider spying I consider completely normal... And now I am thinking this applies to even physical abuse. If a woman came in here and said she called the police and her husband was charged with battery I would think Chris Brown and Rhianna, which is definitely abuse... But it could also be, Cory Lewandowski (Trump's campaign manager who barely touched…

If a man using his wife's computer for something and he checks her website history to see what she's been up to I feel like that's fine, with or without her knowledge. The same principle applies to looking at recent photos, who she's been texting (I don't think reading the actual message is always justified, but if it's some strange man's name, then of course he should see what is going on) or who she's been having private conversations with on facebook. Yep we are definitely on the same page. I…

I totally agree that the facebook situation you described is bizarre! Also, YES! The guy was just so insecure. He really was the stereotypical beta. A little over weight. Big career goals that were always "about to take off." Drank too much. Could not control his emotions at all... But weirdly, he managed to look as if he was? If something upset him he would get extremely passive aggressive and snarky and REALLY mean rather than "raging out." He turned it on me at a birthday party because I said…

I just want to make clear again that a man can have preferences even if the woman hasn't done anything wrong. Not only is he protecting her from herself (temptations, mistakes, etc.) he is protecting her from other men who may not have the purest of intentions. Policies don't only have to be put in place as a punishment or a reaction to something that the woman did. Of course! I don't think my relationship is a model for everyone to follow. I was just explaining how I got to a statement like "my…

Maybe it wasn't intentional but it seemed like you were saying something is wrong with a man who cares about who their wife interacts with, or who has an opinion on who she is facebook friends with. Oh, no no that's not what I was saying at all! I can see how this sentence in my post might have made it seem like that: My husband could not possibly care less who I talk to, because he knows I would lose big if I choose to risk our relationship. It was bad paragraph structure, I guess. My husband i…

Well, I think you are overgeneralizing what I'm saying. For the most part I think we agree- I know tons of couples who have each others facebook and email passwords. That's not a big deal at all IMO. These men on this other sub are sneaking. Installing spywear on phones, and bugging the house with secret recording devices. I won't budge on that- spying on your partner is abusive. If you're sneaking around, and doing things in secret, that would be, to me, beta. If an Alpha man wanted to read his…

Masculine men guard what they love and it isn't a sign of obsession to request that your woman limit her interactions with other men. Limit? Sure, but that's not what I'm talking about. Are you saying it's reasonable for a man to say his wife cannot work a job that would have her interacting with male coworkers? I'm talking about this sort of extreme behavior. If a man wants his wife to do something like not have male friends that makes sense (if he is doing the same) but I am talking about the …

SHH: Every time you leave a room, take a moment to look around and see if there is anything in there that doesn't belong. Cup that should be in the dishwasher? Stack of magazines on the table that should be on a shelf? Etc. If you see anything, grab it as you are leaving and take it back to its proper place. Doing this has really helped me to get clutter in hand!

Great post. I think it's also important to say that abuse is not just hitting, it can also be extreme controlling behavior. I don't want to mud sling, so I will just say there is another sub, for married men, that often advocates things like installing spyware on your woman's phone, following her when she leaves the house, and today someone posted about leaving a recording device in their living room to listen in on his wife and her two male colleagues. Do I even need to explain how things like …

Wonderful post! My #1 tool is a pen and paper. I make a list of proactive things I can do to move myself towards whatever goal I have (get in better shape, get the house back in order, etc.) Then, as I accomplish them I cross them right off! If it's something long term like getting in better shape I make a new list each week.

I LOVE this look. I would not call it the epitome of man-friendly makeup, but it's still great, and I do it a lot. I would definitely say try brown, navy, grey, very dark purple and hunter green liners like this, too! If the shades are dark enough it won't register as "color" to the viewer, it will just look softer than black and can bring out your eye color more. Urban Decay makes great colors for this... I use Sabbath and Loaded all the time!

I love the scent of it! And yes, I totally forgot about the Benebalm. I like the Positint version of that one, too actually. Great, I haven't had any of these on hand in about a year and now I want to go buy both of the stains and glosses. Eeps!

. Can I just add Nars Tinted Moisturiser as a favourite for natural looking skin, it literally airbrushes your skin while still letting your natural glow shine through. I've heard this is FANTASTIC! Also Anastasia Brow Wiz for defining and filling in brows naturally. It's a cult favourite for a reason, it looks really natural for a pencil, so you can get that defined look without the power brow problem. Another one I found interesting is the matte lipstick. I enjoy my dark red matte lipsticks and find they compliment my skin tone/naturally darker red lips. Is this alright? I wish I had a picture to show as an example... My lips are shaped in a "20s" style, so I assumed the darker lipstick works best. Any advice on this is appreciated! Hummm, I would say that if a man is very into the retro fantasy look he might like this sort of thing.... But in general, I still think dark or dry looking lipsti…

YES! Using a dark lipstick sheered out is a great tip. It also leaves behind a "stain" that way that will last all day. I also really like the classic Benetint stain. It was initially created for burlesque dancers to put on their nipples to enhance the natural nipple color so men could see it from the audience. No surprise this shade is appealing to men on the lips and cheeks too, lol!

I think I'm probably going to start using it again! It REALLY works, and it's not as expensive as it seems because if you use a small eyeliner brush to apply it the bottles last.... So long. Honestly, I think I've gotten a year out of three month supply before!

Hummm, that's hard. I think I would go with Revlon Colorstay Foundation, which is $12.99, but it wears best without any powders or primers and the like for me personally (I have combo/normal skin) and it's full enough coverage you can dab a second coat over places you would otherwise use concealer and get an OK result. Then I would do an NYX HD Blush ($6.99), and an NYX slim eye pencil in a shade of brown I could use for both filling in my brows and lining my eye a bit ($3.49) plus a Maybelline …

I would consider those "lash extensions" more than "falsies", but I've actually never tried them! Do you have to get them filled often? Are they hard to care for? I've considered them, but whenever I want more lashes I always end up just going for Latisse, which I've gone on and off a few times. It makes my lashes SUPER long and thick after about 6 weeks, and hubby loves them. So, I guess "big lashes" isn't bad, fake looking lashes is, and I feel like it's very, very hard to use one of those str…

I recently went out to my nearest Sephora and purchased a whole bunch of high-end eyeliner pencils and mascaras, and I've been wearing some of the products when I go to work and whatnot, but invariably they run/smudge and I end the day looking like a mess What brands are they? Unfortunately a lot of long wear products are... not. Are you using an eye cream? If you're using the wrong one it can definitely make anything you put over it run or smudge, no matter the "staying power." I personally rea…

Everything nowadays has shimmer and depending on your features and your age it can make you look cheap. Like I see no reason to use blush with shimmer, only highlight and nighttime eye shadows. This is true. There is a huge "sparkle" trend right now. I definitely would not recommend something glittery like this for a natural/man friendly look... But more something with finely milled shimmer that will mimic the appearance of healthy, youthful skin by giving a very soft shine. Matte blushes can lo…

OH MY GOSH YASSSSSS. I think we just became best friends. My favorites are the Anastasia Beverly Hills Glow Kits (specifically gleam) and Becca pearl. They are so finely milled! ME TOO! Literally those exact same two brands. How is the Anastasia one sooo good? I just got the glow kit in Gleam and I use Hard Candy as blush, Mimosa as a bronzer, and Stardust for highlight, lol. You're absolutely right! I should change that category to "more natural" or something when I get home. I tend to assume if I don't make it myself from raw ingredients I got from trusted sources it's probably not really natural. Thank you! Yes, that is a fantastic tip about using a radiance booster! I loooooove highlighter, and could write a whole post about cultivating "glow." I was just trying to keep this one really simple and aimed at a girl who maybe hadn't been wearing any makeup and walking around like this instead of this thinking she was maximizing her SMV because "guys don't like makeup" so I was scared to recommend a million products. I was trying to go for as many 2-in-1s as possible (radiance foundation, bl…

Oh man, this bums be out! I'm sorry your experiences with women have been so bad. Even as a happily married woman, if a man approaches me I try to be friendly and open. A short, light conversation with another human can be so uplifting (I'm talking about very non-flirty things like someone asking you your favorite coffee in line at a shop, or the guy behind the counter at a deli making chit chat about the weather while your order it prepared.) Fantastic post! I love the point about treating your SO like a guest. I wanted to add some things to this... If you are young, start thinking now about what you can do to age well in future. In your teens, early, and mid-twenties it's easy not to think about these sorts of things, but trust me... Pretty much the day you turn 30 you will know who among you and your friends has been taking steps to age well, and who hasn't. I have a question for you, Whisper. This is sincere, I'm just trying to tease out your ideas a bit more. Lets say a man posts in TRP saying that he wants to start a family. Bearing offspring and passing on his genes is important to him, and for a variety of reasons dealing with stats on childhood success in single parent homes versus that in two parent households, he wants the mother to be involved in the children's lives (so, he doesn't view buying eggs and hiring a surrogate as a good option.)…

Great thread! I usually get a Lilly Pulitzer planner every summer (they go summer to summer instead of January to January) but I dropped mine in the lake last month. Oops. The new ones haven't been released yet, and I'm not sure if I want to wait a few more months (I'm kind of lost without it) or try something new. If you can wait, the Lilly ones are fun because they have cute stickers for things like "date night" and "pamper time", etc.

It's worth the dressing-free salad at lunch the next day that balances it out, I promise, lol! You know the concept of high/low wardrobe building? You buy some staple items very high quality/price, like a beautiful all leather purse, or comfortable, sturdy high heels you will actually wear, then you buy trend pieces super low... This is such a good question! I feel like I have spent half my life trying to help my girlfriends solve problems that they shouldn't even be having, but they vetted poorly. At least among my friends at least 75% of bad vetting is willful, though. They know he "doesn't believe in marriage", but they think they will convince him.
