Similar story, been since October 2020. I’m not gonna pretend I’m thriving and that every day is great. Shit sucks and it is what it is. That being said, it’s up to you to find what brings you joy and do it. Hobbies, travel, work, kids. You’re right, betrayal does change you, and it might be permanent. But her mistreatment shouldn’t extinguish your light. There is still good in this world, even if you have to search for it or create it yourself. Kids need you to model healthy behavior and resili…

It’s worth asking an attorney about. If she’s shacked up with another guy but still getting alimony from you, a judge might rule that you’re no longer obligated to support her.

Yes. Stop looking at her social media. Mute/Block whatever you have to do. Stop. You have to accept that this is beyond your control. It’s out of your hands. Divorce is happening. Accept it. Honor your own feelings. It’s ok to be sad. Hit the gym every day and let yourself mope around at home / be sad afterwards. Get something good out of this. No kids involved? You lucky dog, you. It’s time to start thinking about what kind of life you want. That is something you can go out there and get. Focus…

You probably love this woman with all yourheart and soul, but she is no longer your partner or friend here. Lawyer up and obtain a fair divorce. Try keeping it amicable but don’t be surprised if she explodes when she realizes she will be held accountable and have to play fair. Doesn’t matter how much she made versus your income. Marital property is a big deal and judges don’t take kindly to shady behavior when it comes to assets.

You’re not wrong to feel any particular way, but you may want to think about why your son doesn’t buy you a gift. Does he not think you place importance on gifts? Does he feel like your wife takes over this task for him? Idk man, ask your kid what’s up.

I’d be disappointed in her and she would know it. I might have trouble being around her after that until she made every effort to apologize and atone for her actions with the people she hurt.

Break-ups usually suck, married or not. Don’t let this breakup confirm any doubts or negative thoughts you have about yourself. Your worth as a human being isn’t determined by your relationship status. Take some time to grieve and mourn both of these relationships, and just focus on yourself. It’s OK to feel bad, just don’t wallow in it forever. Figure out what actions you need to take in order to feel OK again, and start taking steps towards that. Gonna second the employee assistance idea, if y…

Take her to court and get spousal support. Assuming she works, she’s also responsible for shared household expenses so don’t let her stick all that on you.

You have to nurture the spark between you, otherwise that fire dies. People grow and change but it’s important to wake up and choose to love each other every day. Do you think it’s too late for therapy? Either way it sucks. It’s going to hurt. Find a reliable friend or family member (or two) to vent to. Reflect, grieve, and grow from this. Right now you’re probably in a bit of shock but keep your head on. You have a daughter to protect and raise. Be present in her life and model good behaviors.

Yeah, with your kid there she might throw a huge fit. Make sure you’ve planned things out with an attorney and take steps to protect yourself.

IMO you and your partner have to nurture your relationship and model healthy behaviors for your children. There’s a reason your wife found attention elsewhere. You have to show up for your partner. I’m NOT saying to neglect your children, and I’m NOT saying she’s justified in cheating on you and stepping out. You’re not responsible for her actions. But you are 50% responsible for the state of the relationship that crashed and burned. Take care of your children, but be mindful of the relationship…

We tend to not have the social connections that women do, which helps them do better after a split. My advice is to try to join some group activities, whether that’s a CrossFit or exercise class, running group or some other hobby in a group setting. Church. Concerts. Art shows. Whatever floats your boat. Go to events and talk to people. Get out of your head as much as possible and put yourself out there. Make connections. If you already have a good friend group…then disregard this advice and hav…

Implement Grey Rock and 180 method to maintain your your sanity. Look both of those up and start ASAP. Do that for yourself, not for your ex. She has proven that she’s not wife material, and you shouldn’t even consider her friend material. She is someone you used to know. You have some business transactions to finish, like separating assets, paperwork, etc. Be brief, keep conversation limited, and be mildly polite or disinterested. Once you have no ties, cut contact completely. She no longer exi…

Hey man, I’ve been in your shoes. I’ve been with addicts and alcoholics, had my wife cheat on me and blame me for her actions. You want her back because you loved what you thought she was or could be. I don’t think the emotional rollercoaster ever stops, but you get better at dealing with it, if you make the effort. And over time you become more resilient. She’s an alcoholic and you are better off without her in your life. Some things for you to read: No More Mr Nice Guy (read this first) Cheati…

Same boat as you, 4 years out from splitting up. Finalized divorce recently. Dating is a fucking cesspool and while I have a GF, I don’t have a lot of extra change or time to spoil her either. It gets said a lot, but make time every day for fitness. Exercise helps combat depression, it helps you sleep better, and makes you look better - provided that you have your diet in check. Caisthenics, lifting weights, running, some kind of sport, whatever allows you to consistently exercise and stay activ…

Hmm…you just leased a place together, but now she’s saying she’s been unhappy for a while? This sounds pretty familiar. A tale as old as time. Anyone else in the picture? Another man? I know you don’t want to consider that, but a little digging might provide you with the information you need to move forward. See a lawyer for an initial consultation to figure out what divorce will look like for you. This will cost hundreds of dollars but will be worth it for your protection. Different states have…

Hey, I had an experience similar to yours. My context is a little different - been separated over 4 years, just got divorced this year, dated around. I met this woman a year ago and our chemistry was off the charts. Couldn’t keep our hands off each other. I was smitten. Head over heels for this lady. She was special to me but unfortunately it wasn’t mutual. She was going through her own divorce and I was a rebound. When it ended, I was pretty torn up. It wasn’t losing her as much as losing the i…

You married her when she was 18 and you were 27!!?? Why alimony? Did you float her through college? Is she qualified to work in her field yet? If there was infidelity on her part, it could affect alimony. This varies by state, so check into that if applicable.

You’ll find lots of men in the same boat or similar. The whole “love yourself first” spiel sounds so cliche but it’s true. Gotta work at finding some peace and over time you’ll realize that you weren’t the problem. The modern dating scene is a fucking cesspool. Wouldn’t blame you for checking out of that. Don’t give up on life though. I coped with lots of sex with randos, alcohol, drugs, and some unhealthy relationships. Don’t do that. Been over 4 years since D-day and I’m a long way from being …

I’m not debating the merits of taking the red pill with you. I shared my experience here is all.

I think to do so would be extremely cynical. What kind of study are they going to come up with to prove (or disprove) that statement? I think a lot their arguments resonate with men because of confirmation bias, like bad relationship experiences. After two failed long term relationships between the ages of 15-31, I’m not quite there yet. It will probably take at least one more major betrayal to put me over that cliff of derangement, although the plunge looks inviting.

Yeah, and I don’t think she’s shitty because of her gender. I love women and hope to find a good one to share life with one day. Might be a little hesitant to marry or cohabitate.

Yeah, I get it. My blood pressure tends to boil in these situations so I apologize for my triggered reaction (there was a video on “frame” saying never to apologize, which I think is dumb). Obviously I’m not very red pill, but if I was, maybe I wouldn’t be in this situation. There I go again, trying to find some kind of agency. This shit has fucked me up beyond belief. I’ve been shot at before and I think going through the divorce is worse.

I’m not dismissing it. I experienced it. My wife, the mother of my child (I hope it’s my child) left me for another man, and was fucking another man (possibly more men) prior to that. I don’t appreciate the victim-blaming going on here. She gaslit me into thinking everything was my fault. I didn’t make her feel feminine, but getting railed by this guy certainly did. It took me a long time to admit this, because it means relinquishing the small amount of control I told myself I had- telling mysel…

I’ve been in therapy for a year and work at growth every day. The truth is she did a shitty thing. I’m sure there’s a lot of nuance to it but I don’t think this is the way anyone wants to acquire insight and growth. Her actions are her responsibility, and I hope she gains insight into herself and grows, but I don’t think she has the capacity to do so. I hope to grow by putting it all behind me one day, and having a relationship with a woman that I can trust, if such a thing is truly possible.

I wish it didn’t either. The idea Rollo Tomassi and Rich Cooper put out there, that a woman can never love a man the same way men love women, is a sobering thought. The idea that they’re always looking for something better, or a guy from their past…that makes me doubt that marriage can really work in this era, with social media in our pockets, approval from others and possible “orbiters” at their fingertips. She would never communicate her wants and needs in the relationship. I saw some of the t…

She said she’d been unhappy for a long time but didn’t realize it, and when she came off her antidepressants a switch flipped in her head. She said the guy wasn’t the reason she left me (even though they’re still together and she wears his shirts every time I see her) but she never really gave me a single or clear reason. She did say that she didn’t consider it cheating and that she didn’t feel like she did anything wrong. The AP had recently moved back to our state, and she saw her chance to be…

I probably still would have ended up here because of her infidelity and my search to find answers and meaning.

Yea, a year ago my wife left me for another man. Also found out there was another guy she was fucking prior to that, a coworker. “And Moon Boy, for all I know.” Turns out she fits the description of the so-called “alpha widow,” because this is a guy from her past she was infatuated with and slept with when she was a teenager. She always talked about how I was different, I never played head games, I was just up front with her. We spent 8 years together, changed cities, bought a house, had a child…
