To add onto my other comment, don’t punish or reward. I know this might seem crazy, but if you think rationally about it, our job as parents is to prepare them to be adults. When you punish behavior, you just motivate them by fear, instead of understanding the underlying reason. I have never hit, yelled or shown any form of anger towards my child. If you read one book, read the power of showing up by Daniel J. Siegel. It’s about attachment science. Even if I didn’t fully agree at first, the book won me over. I’m raising my kid this way and she’s so sweet, independent and caring. Sometimes I feel like she’s so much better than me. You can never show too much love and affection to a child. The book is on Amazon, but free on libgen.

Keep in mind how people in different subs view the world differently. You’ll get different answers in different subs. You should get multiple points of view, and then draw your conclusion. Aristotle came before the stoics and introduced what may be called the scientific method. Then there's also the socratic method, but that's more a teaching device meant to encourage critical thinking.
