That's really a lot to unpack. You have some genuine grievances, it sounds like. Ask yourself some hard questions. What do you want, and where do you see yourself in the next 5 years. And then ask him the same question.

That was a decent guy you had as a father in law. Mine wasn't so nice...even when his daughter cheated on me. It was just denial, denial and must be my fault. "Tell us about the affair you must be having to have caused this." Jeez good riddance.

I know right? But why is that? It's because we've been trained as a society to expect men to fail at those things. But that's not the reality from many guys I know, and not the reality for me. My wife was a disaster. A complete lazy slob who expected me to do literally everything for her.
