And this would be fine if you decide to settle in a state that emphasizes science and education. For someone living somewhere that doesn't, Alabama for example, once you graduate, if you can't get a job, the loans will grow with interest. And that's not even considering if you go into a field where you have to go to a specialized school. Take it from someone who got a student loan to get a bachelors in Computer Science. For the 4 years I used student loans to finance my schooling, I ended up paying back 7-9.5 years worth of payments.
