I wouldn't call it fake per say, it's just not socially acceptable for women to say as much of what they're thinking, if any at all. In addition to this it's more common for women to seek validation from others, it's just the way we're raised. When a female friend asks a question like "am I fat" she's more likely than not looking for validation, not a serious answer.

Oh yeah definitely. It's hard to explain but the tone people use with me. Guys in my age demographic tend to sound way more comfortable and less on edge around me when they see me as just another guy. That and people are more direct and blunt. I'm stealth with my gaming friends and we pick on each other for laughs, and are just more honest in general when actually pointing out flaws. I'd say there's the same amount of FTMs and MTFs. It's just that we get talked about less, and are more likely to pass early on in our transitions, and choose to be stealth. People don't notice us. Hell even I forget I'm trans sometimes. I just think of myself as a guy, y'know?
