Is there a reason that we're pseudo-brigading that post? This is such a minor thing for us to raise a fuss about - if they want to complain about not going topless, let them. It's not an issue we should really be trying to fight against, their minor issue doesn't cancel out ours and we can work to fix both at the same time.

Ok, so what if it is a hoax? What if we make the environment better and the world a more livable place for nothing at all? What then?

There's a lot of people from MGTOW who come here as well, and unfortunately they think our attitude towards women should be the same as theirs. The overall quality of the sub gets reduced by a lot because of it.

We do have a lot of activity coming here from subs like MGTOW, and there's a lot of anti-women comments coming from there. Unfortunately, the quality of posts here has gotten worse overall as a result.

You should have been here a year ago, it was a lot more of what you're looking for. Maybe it's been even longer, I'm not entirely sure when the transition really started.

Unfortunately, we're getting some spillover from subs that don't have a similar viewpoint, and it harms us. A lot of people take the stance that if we're being attacked, we need to fight back equally hard. Those are the ones who don't realize that we're already fighting from behind and that if we try to be aggressive, we'll lose because we'll just get demonized further.

It's one of the reasons we're losing credibility. There's been a lot of stuff from /r/MGTOW as well, which makes it hard for people to believe that we don't hate women. I try to downvote posts where appropriate and contribute to conversations about not hating women, but it seems like a losing battle at this point.

I'm fairly certain this was the original intent of the Tumblr post and OP misinterpreted it as saying only men are toxic.
/r/MensRights29/01/19 05:45 PM

IIRC, the image that you commented on is actually in support of men. Too many feminists, especially on Tumblr, have the mindset that all men are toxic because of a small subset of men. This post is saying that just because some burgers have cheese on them, not all burgers are cheeseburgers. It's not saying that only men are toxic, it's saying that not all men are toxic. I'll have to do some digging, but there was a continuation to the post that said "don't throw away every burger simply because …

To be fair, that's probably how she keeps getting told to act by writers/directors. If they weren't happy with her portrayal of the role she would be different.

It's not the message itself, which boils down to "be the best man you can be", but the presentation of it. They were basically shaming all men for the actions of a few, and calling a lot of typically masculine traits bad. Add to that the fact that almost every bad act in the commercial was done by a white guy and most good acts were done by PoC and it starts to look like they're trying to put race into this as well. Other companies have made pro-men commercials with a similar message but they di…

It looks like they're 50/50 based on the groups they support. One is specifically for helping keep men out of jail for misdemeanors and another is for helping prevent male suicide (they specifically state it's focused on men).

Kicking someone who's held down and helpless isn't justice at that point. Also, nobody even tried to stop the woman who was simply walking away with the baby, they just believed her and took her word at face value. He wasn't supposed to know that the father was innocent but he also didn't even attempt to find out what was going in, he just leaped into action and decided to punish somebody for their (assumed) actions. That's not how this is supposed to work. I cannot defend someone who has the me…

And because of it he almost helped a crime get committed. The guy was literally kicking someone while they were down, there's no heroism there. Imagine how you would feel if you were held down and someone was kicking you while somone else walked off with your kid. If the mother hadn't come back in time the kid would've been gone because of vigilante "justice". Edit: for those of you who didn't get to see it, the comment was saying that he applauded the man who was kicking the father in the ribs …

The example they used for "defending rape" is one about cases where both people are drunk but the man is the only one who gets charged with rape. If both are drunk, both are responsible for it.

Keep the focus on improving mens' rights and away from bashing women. We should be trying to raise ourselves up, not tear everyone else down.

If I've said it once, I've said it a dozen times: we are fighting this battle from behind. By actively brigading their subs we don't look like the good guys at all. It's hard to get people to join our side when we're antagonizing the side with the popular vote.
/r/MensRights26/12/18 04:59 PM

We really shouldn't be asking for the post though, it's way too easy for them to say that we're brigading them and it looks bad for us, not them.

It's obvious satire of the people who actually try to claim this happened. Ben Shapiro is too woke with facts and logic to do this for real (again, that was satire)

What about the criminals who aren't child rapists? What about the men who go to prison because they couldn't pay child support? What about men imprisoned due to false accusations? What about men in prison due to drugs or theft or anything else non-sexual? Do they deserve it too?

Or they realize that we're already fighting from behind. The feminist movement has the public ear and more support, it would be easy for them to demonize us and say "these guys hate women". If we make generalist statements that fit that narrative, do you really think we'll get the support we need? Edit: I don't know why you guys think I said to appease feminists or to go along with them. The part I disagree with is "every single encounter he has with women". That seems like an extreme level of paranoia. Are you supposed to be constantly recording while you're out in public? What about at work, if you have an open office space with little privacy, are you supposed to record when you're talking to a coworker where everyone can see/hear? Or maybe at home with your own mom or sister? I think situations like that are less necessary than the post implies. However, I agree that having …

It's 3 separate articles about the same event, that's what they meant by "one article posted three times". It's better to find several events so you can show that this isn't a one-time thing. Honestly I somewhat agree with both of you - there's no need to be extreme enough to record absolutely every interaction you have, but if you get into a situation that might be questionable then it's best to be prepared.

That's why our focus shouldn't be on demonizing women as a whole, but rather on calling out bad representatives on both sides and simply fighting for better rights for ourselves. We're not here to tear down womens' rights, we're here to build up mens' rights, so let's not get distracted by our desire to rant.

Here's the problem: they already have the public ear. Escalating and going tit for tat isn't going to gain us any support since we're already portrayed as the bad guys. If we want any chance at getting truly equal mens' rights, we have to show everyone that we are NOT the women-hating bigots that we're made out to be and that we simply want to be treated as more than a resource for women to survive. War doesn't determine who is right, only who is left.

Can we please avoid making these sweeping accusations on this sub? We already get turned into villains by the (much more popular) feminist movement without people denouncing all women as harmful. Yes, I know it's the same argument that they make, but if we constantly complain that their argument is unfair doesn't that mean that we are setting up a double-standard now? Sure, all women have the potential to cause harm. But so do all men, in fact all human beings have the potential to cause harm. B…

The problem is that we're in a "boiling frog" scenario. If you put a frog in boiling water it will hop out, but if you put it in cold water and slowly heat it up the frog stays until it dies.

Can we avoid sensationalist woman-bashing and go back to discussing actual mens' rights problems? Us complaining about people making stupid signs (that are usually ridiculed by everyone else anyway) and tearing people down in the comments just hurts the movement.

No, the take-home message is that men should be careful about who they marry, and if they have any suspicions to get solid evidence of your own innocence before bringing in the legal system. Working to abolish alimony and reduce child support payments would help as well. This is MensRights, not MGTOW.

Unfortunately not everyone has the same gun training and good sense to avoid such things. I've heard too many stories of someone with no gun experience pointing a gun at someone's head because they thought it was a funny joke, only to end up killing their friend because nobody checked if it was loaded.

Pretty bold claim, is there a source for that?
/r/MensRights21/06/18 05:15 PM

In order for that to happen you have to either be very quick or very prepared. In either case, it doesn't matter. The woman doesn't want her underclothes to be seen because she didn't consent to it, it doesn't matter what the cause of their exposure is. Just because she's wearing a dress or skirt doesn't mean it's okay for you to violate that consent. This is just the "look at what she's wearing, she's asking for it" argument all over again, and I'm done here.

Except trips, falls, and wind gusts are all accidental and not due to the actions of someone. Taking an upskirt picture is definitely something you have to try to do, and isn't even remotely the same idea.

But people will wear the equivalent of lacey underwear vis a vis 'bathing suits' that are thong style, with spaghetti strap designs on both the bottom AND top, with semi-transparency, to the beach As someone else already pointed out, it's a matter of consent. By wearing something like a bikini a woman is consenting to be seen in revealing clothing, whereas she doesn't necessarily want to display her underwear for the world to see.

This is the wrong response though. What's to stop the pendulum from going back and forth forever? As far as I know, the point of this sub is that we get our rights back so we can have actual equal rights, not to promote the idea that men are superior. Otherwise we'll become just as bad as the extreme feminists we hate so much.

I think the problem is that there's a general social stigma against women in engineering (even now). My girlfriend is in Computer Science and everyone is so surprised that she went for such a technical field, and wouldn't she prefer to do something like Graphic Design if she wants to work with computers? It's that kind of response that causes the protests we mock - we still act surprised when women go into STEM fields, and some of us (usually older generations) actively try to steer women away f…

You seem to be a leftover from /r/incels, that's not the attitude we want here. If you actually value your relationship with a woman, it's an option especially if you can reasonably believe that she will care for you after. A genuine relationship is hard to come by these days, and they're not easy to replace.

I'm not trying to downplay the impact on his life here, but I do want to point out that the girl is facing expulsion for her actions. Also, she has been publicly named and shamed just like we all ask for here, so there is still justice being served. Let's not allow this space to descend into pure hatred of women for the actions of a few, there's always more to the story and in this case it's good to know there are consequences.

Someone else pointed out that was the argument as well. This analogy makes a lot of sense, thanks. I guess I was in an argumentative mindset, especially after he started throwing insults rather than just trying to explain.

Yeah, I didn't really get that from what he was trying to say, your explanation makes a lot more sense out of it. Maybe I was just trying to be too argumentative, but people calling names in their arguments doesn't help me see their position any better.

Keep accusing everyone and eventually you'll accuse somebody that can get shit done Here's your full statement Keep accusing everyone... And here's the part we're discussing. That sounds a lot like it includes innocents. I don't know if you've been paying attention on this sub, but there are a lot of innocent guys who get accused of rape or sexual harassment or some other bullshit and they pay the price. I don't know if you've noticed this, but we currently have senators being accused of sexual assault. If they can't make any changes, then I'm not sure who can. It's still not a good approach. Anyone who's willing to sacrifice the innocent for their cause really needs to re-think how they're approaching it. "The end justifies the means" is no justification at all, just an excuse for terrible behavior in the name of an ideal. Honestly, I feel like you're just here to troll and argue at this point,…

I think To Kill a Mockingbird is a common book in high school curriculums, so the effect is more prominent. A lot of the cases you mentioned are unfortunately not taught well, or at least I haven't heard of half of them. To many, it would be a random black man hanging from a tree rather than something that has context. A picture is worth a thousand words, but it's worth more if it is placed properly.
