I'd say I am a psychology academic with ample publications under his belt. Annnddd, I am pretty sure that since 2011 most psychology academics have been of the view that most psychology is probably bunk ;)

Nope, pretty sure I didn't mince my words. Hypotheses can be rejected. Hypotheses can also be shown to be absurd. Consider the hypothesis that language changes vision (yes, the embodied cognition crowd proposed this). This hypothesis has not only been rejected by all except a few stragglers but people have also shown it to be (a) absurd, and (b) lacking possible mechanisms (those projections back into the visual cortex don't actually appear to be functional).
